It's the same logic Microsoft is applying to Gamepass. Get enough people to commit to a monthly fee is a far better financial option them relying on the variability of box office sales.
Hyped about a bunch of those. Solid move. I for one welcome our new movie overlords.
Holy shit hbo max is the best streaming service now lol

All those movie theater workers better start learning assembly fast lul. But yea, sucks to be them.
The cinema won't die. The studios also know how much up-front money they can get from theater releases.
Also these are limited releases and won't stay on the service after the usual length of a first run (4-8 weeks.) Sub early and watch in the first release run, or wait longer for the usual digital release which may be 3-6 months later.
Also this will take a bite out of other services' digital rental revenue (Google/Youtube, Amazon, Apple, Vudu, etc)
Also all this talk reminds me I need to watch Lovecraft Country when I can make time for it.
I get HBO Max for free with shitty Directv which makes sense since that’s AT&T too.
I just got it this weekend, loving it so far.

This is such a big balls movie that my hats go off to them.
Now all they need is to up the streaming quality to 4k HDR.
My only gripe about my LG CX is that it's the one streaming service I use it doesn't have a smart app for. It has everything else including Hulu, Amaon, Netflix, CrunchRoll and a bunch of other shit. Luckily my PS4 Pro and PS5 both support it.
Same with me only for AT&T Cell phone service.

AMC statement;
Cinemark; These coronavirus-impacted times are uncharted waters for all of us, which is why AMC signed on to an HBO Max exception to customary practices for one film only, Wonder Woman 1984, being released by Warner Brothers at Christmas when the pandemic appears that it will be at its height. However, Warner now hopes to do this for all their 2021 theatrical movies, despite the likelihood that with vaccines right around the corner the theatre business is expected to recover.
Clearly, Warner Media intends to sacrifice a considerable portion of the profitability of its movie studio division, and that of its production partners and filmmakers, to subsidize its HBO Max start up. As for AMC, we will do all in our power to ensure that Warner does not do so at our expense. We will aggressively pursue economic terms that preserve our business. We have already commenced an immediate and urgent dialogue with the leadership of Warner on this subject.
As this issue gets sorted out, we are nonetheless encouraged that vaccines protecting society at large against the coronavirus are very much at hand. So, it is our expectation that moviegoers soon will be able once again to delight in coming to our theatres without any worry — viewing the world’s best movies safely in our big seats, with our big sound and on our big screens.
In light of the current operating environment, we are making near-term booking decisions on a film-by-film basis. At this time, Warner Bros. has not provided any details for the hybrid distribution model of their 2021 films.
Warner bros legit just plopped their dick on the desk and said “and what?” Lmao
Man AMC really sounding like whiny babies there.
I'd feel bad for them if going to theaters wasn't such a price gouging extravaganza.
All I know is I need to stop slacking and get me a 4k T.V.
AMC needs to shut up and figure out a way to give me the final season of Better Call Saul. Then it’s as good as dead to me.
