John Wall ruptured his Achilles at home, had surgery, is out for the next 12 months
Most untradable contract in the NBA. Feel bad for dude though.

Damn, that's sad. I hope it doesn't kill his explosiveness.
Should the Wizards go into fire sale and tank mode?
maybe. bradley beal has been destroying since becoming the lead guy. can easily get a ton of assets for him while tanking for zion. best case scenario they get picks/players and come up with zion or rj barrett in the next draft.
the only way that team can compete while being hamstrung with wall's contract are with low cost players, anyway.
Lakers offer now at Hart, Zubac, Ingram, Kuzma, and Lonzo plus two first rounders. Previously were at Ingram, Kuzma, and Lonzo plus two first rounders. NOLA wanted four draft picks before Lakers offered Hart and Zubac.
damn, lakers bout to be a bunch of old fogeys and ad
Was it worth dumping D'Angelo Russell for getting rid of Mozgof's contract just to use Ball as trade bait later?
isn't that cap space going to be useful this summer whether they get AD or not?
Welp, apparently NO's counter offer was so ridiculous that LA has decided to back off lol
It's largely a question of who they pursue. IIRC last offseason they had room for three maxes but only if they did it a certain way. That's why it was important to trade for Kawhi because it was the only way for them to get all three Kawhi, James, and George at the same time through Kawhi's Bird rights. I think after all their 1-yr rentals are cleared it's the same situation. They have room two but there are hoops to jump through.
i know they were desperate for cap-space but D'Angelo is on one of the best non-rookie contracts in the league right now. shame they had to sacrifice him to rid themselves of the atrocious Mozgov signing.
Pellies beat writer reported they think they can get Tatum this summer and they like him more than anything the Lakers offered. we'll see. not sure the Lakers offer gets much worse with Boston/sign & trade teams (Bucks?) bidding against them either, holding tight is prolly the right move for the Pellies.
Taken from reddit:
That is absolute craziness NO turned that down in my opinion but I'm a casual so what do I know. The Lakers had agreed to send their entire young core of Lonzo Ball, Kyle Kuzma, Brandon Ingram, Josh Hart and Ivica Zubac to the Pelicans, as well as veteran guard Kentavious Caldwell-Pope, the people said. The Lakers were also winning to also send the Pelicans two first-round draft picks.
not really that crazy though.
AD is a once in a generation type talent. none of those players will turn into anything remotely close to what he is as a player. and those picks will be non-lotto picks forever
I totally agree with AG. Pellies have AD for another season and a half and are going to have much more lucrative offers in the off-season for sure, so no need to jump the gun right now. LA's best chance to get AD I think is still in FA when his current contract is up.
waiting for the offseason for sure is their best move. but this is dell demps so...
Just give Lebron, Rondo and Lonzo for AD.
Magic has said this same offer won't be on the table in the offseason because the Lakers are willing to pay the premium to have AD now but they won't be goaded into a bidding war with Boston in the offseason. They are going to sit tight and hope he doesn't pull a Paul George.
