I guess it could be cool if they do some other kind of pirate story. Despite the public's love for pirates, pirate stories have not been mainstream exactly and all we pretty much have is Black Sails and PotC. Why not do something about real pirates? They didn't reign long but they're hella interesting.

People love Jack Sparrow, but otherwise the franchise is pretty meh. Idk how I feel about a Jack-less movie.

Johnny Depp as Jack Sparrow was my favorite parts of the movie. I don't know how I feel about this. If its a side story with Barbosa I am all for it, but if they are re casting Jack Sparrow then meh

Well no one wants to watch a completely realistic portrayal of piracy, unless watching a documentary. PotC is the romanticized version of pirates. You can still tell a real story with a romanticized flavor to it! I just hope they don't do a remake reboot and try to shove Jack Sparrow etc in again. There's so much potential elsewhere.

Yeah, you had kid friendly pirates in Treasure Island 1883; Disney obviously had the Peter Pan animated movie in 1954. This is nothing new.
