FFRK - In The Name of the Wild Rose (II) Event & Strategies

For continuity sake, let's just assume the FFV event thread went into the void. Greg needed a friend.

Though let's be honest. A headdress THAT large means you are certainly overcompensating for something.

    Spoiler: show

"Do not fear. I am the true princess. What’s this? I could swear you were blushing." - Princess Hilda

Hilda finds the wounded Firion, Maria, and Guy after the Palamecian Empire attacked their hometown of Fynn and killed their parents. She takes them to the rebel base in Altair to be healed with the help of her assistant, Minwu.

The party soon discovers she is the leader of the Wild Rose Rebellion. Firion asks to join the resistance, but Hilda refuses, feeling the party is too young. She is sympathetic to their plight and allows them to stay, teaching them the password of the rebellion, the "Wild Rose".

Firion, Maria, and Guy leave Altair and travel to Fynn, where they discover Hilda's fiance Scott, who has been taken care of and hidden in the basement of the pub after the conquer of Fynn by the Empire. He gives them his ring to give to Hilda after telling them that Borghen betrayed Fynn and that Hilda is the love of his life, before perishing.

Upon returning to Altair, Firion and his friends show Scott's ring to Hilda, who allows them to join the rebellion and has them keep the ring. She asks them to join her assistant, the White Wizard Minwu, and seek the source of the Empire's Mythril, which gives its weapons a great advantage. They retrieve Mythril from the Semitt Falls and as they return to the base, Hilda asks the party to sabotage the construction of the Dreadnought at Bafsk, since the Dark Knight who supervised the construction was called back to Palamecia due to the attack on the Empire's Mythril supply, and replaced by Fynn's traitor, Borghen.

    Relics

If Lightning was a downer of an event, this is the shallow grave it lied upon.

Not much of anything here aside from Hilda becoming II's dedicated healer as Minwu converts more towards offensive White Mage. On top of that, the next II event is about 6 months away and also carries the torment trap banner.

There is only one banner here, instead having a fire element pick-up as B2 that should include Locke, Vincent, Sabin, Zell, and Amarant items.

    Future Event Banner Comparison:

    https://www.reddit.com/r/FFRecordKee...el&sh=a1698d60

The good news is that the next II banners are actually pretty good and worth pulling on. Good bit of +element mix with some much needed improvements for Leila and Leon and the O.G. Dragoon's USB. Also has Maria's Arcane (and +earth armor).

Thought if you desperately want Emperor items or a dedicated healer for II, this event is (sadly) your best option.

    Element Boosts:
    Spoiler: show
    Banner 1:
    • Fire: Firion Arcane
    • Earth: Emperor USB2, BSB2 - Maria LMR
    • Ice: Firion USB

    Banner 2:

    Ultra EX/Chase Type Glossary:
    Spoiler: show
    Rules of thumb:
    1. Stat buffs from the EX mode have a unique ID and will stack with everything.
    2. Many USB’s come with a built in class damage boost. These are separate from the iteration class boosts and do stack.
    3. EX modes last 15 seconds, while buffs provided by the USB entry last 25 seconds. (Terra is an exception, with her EX Mode lasting 25 seconds).

    Special Effects:
    • General Boost: These can be anything specifically tied to the EX Mode - HP Stock, Crit Fix, Cast Speed, Element Boost, Stat buffs, and even Break Damage Limit. This will stack with every other buff on the user, including other EX Modes.
    • Rank Boost: This provides a damage boost scaling with the rank of the ability used. The boost starts out at ~5% for R1 increasing to ~30% for R5+.
    • Class Boost: This provides a flat damage boost for a specific class of abilities (Knight, Black Magic, etc). Generally weaker than the Rank Boost at ~15-20%, but applies to all abilities under that class - including Burst commands.
    • Chase: Follow up attack(s) triggered by using abilities of a specific element or school while under the EX Mode. The number of these chase attacks can be random, reliant on the rank of the ability used (Rank Chase), status of the user (Status Chase), or increase in number as the trigger ability is used (Echo Chase).
    • Cycle: Unit receives a quickcast or instacast charge when using abilities tied to a specific element or school – generally meant to be used in repetition for maximum effect.
    • Build Up: A gradient damage boost toward a specific ability school based on the number of ability uses from the start of the battle to when the EX mode is applied. This buff is not tied to EX mode duration, and will persist whenever the EX mode is active.
    • Wind Up/Finisher: Generally applying to Summoners, this will provide additional damage based on the sum total of all type (class or element) damage done during EX mode when the mode expires. The unique aspect of this is that a recast of the USB will count toward the exit damage of the previous EX mode.
    • Phantom Cast: This effect will auto cast an attack every few second at a set rate independent of the character. The number of attacks or potency is not reliant on any outside factors (Haste, Slow, QC) and will generally produce 4 actions per EX Mode.
    • Cheer: This will grant a party wide effect after using a triggering ability. For example, Marche will triple the cast speed of every front row party member (himself included) for 1 turn after he uses a Knight ability.
    • Ability Double: This will guarantee that an ability will cast 2 times per use at the cost of 2 hones. The first cast can trigger appropriate W-Cast materia for a total of 3 hits, but the additional hits will not generate SB gauge.

    Banner 1:

Firion gains a simple 3 hit Arcane that covers 3 elements - holy/ice/fire. Of which he only has en-holy to support the damage.

His Brave USB returns from the fest, and he also gains a Glint that allows him to deal 30% more damage when hitting a weakness and triples his cast speed for 2 turns.

Hilda heals well and packs an uncommon boost with her instant medica + Last Stand USB - 100% Def boost. Her BSB is a common party medica + Magic Blink with C1 and C2 being the standard instant Curaga and medica commands.

Emperor tries to keep up with Maria as an earth focused mage with his new USB. 10x ST earth/dark damage with Atk/Mag crush, 2x cast speed, and chases earth element abilities with 'Thorn of Heartache' - dealing 4x ST dark/earth/non hits.

Emperor's Glint is a Lightning element debuff (target deals less lightning element damage) with 2 charges of triple cast speed.

    Returning Items:

    Firion: BUSB
    Emperor: USB, BSB2
    Maria: BSB

    Banner 2:

Fire pickup. Really a decent fire element banner if you're lacking - Sabin is a deceptively strong fire option and Vincent carries a magical lean. Zell and Locke are great under some support buffs (or Last Stand).

    Returning Highlights:

    lol prepare for 1/11 Amarant.

    Legend Materias:
    • B1 - Hilda: Small chance to w-cast White Magic abilities.
    • B1 - Emperor: Begin battle with en-earth.
    • B1 - Firion: Small chance to w-cast Samurai abilities.
    • B1 - Maria: Begin battle with en-earth.

The Highwind name will live on to fight another day!

That day will be 6 months from now!

    Ultimate + Apocalypse Battles
    Imperial Shadow ++
    凶Imperial Shadow
    HP: 337,500
    Target Score:
    • Defeat the Imperial Shadow with at least 3 characters not KO'ed.

    Weak: None
    Absorbs: None
    Resists: None
    Null: Ice, Poison
    Vulnerabilities: None

Notes: You have magical piercing and regular physical hits to worry about here. Wall or Protect is enough to handle the physical threats, so focus on debuffing magic.

Imperial Shadow prefers lightning element damage, as well as Sap and Instant KO. The plus side of his ~25% accuracy instant death ability is that it can be Runic'ed. Break out those Celes SSB RW's.

If you're bringing said Runic, you can focus on lightning resist accessories. It is also an option to bring a Raise spell and focus on the accessory mitigation because the piercing magic attacks are AoE and he uses them regularly.

Acolyte Archive: Luckily this is a straightforward fight. 2x DD, support, healer, and whatever else you want should suffice just fine.

Remember that Firion carries an ancient as hell instant party Magic Blink is his BSB.

    King Behemoth (Apoc +)
    滅King Behemoth
    HP: 500,000
    Target Score:
    • Defeat King Behemoth with 2 or more heroes not KO'ed.

    Weak: None
    Absorbs: None
    Resist: None
    Null: None
    Vulnerabilities: None

Notes: Entirely a physical fight. You can also ignore the Haste, but do have to content with Stun.

A very boring physical only fight. Tank and spank is really the only way to approach this. You can carry Stun resist if you want at the cost of that 30-45 atk. It shouldn't matter much.

    Green Dragons (Apoc ++)
    滅Green Dragon x2
    HP: 300,000 each
    Target Score:
    • Defeat both bosses with 2 or more heroes not KO'ed.

    Weak: Ice
    Absorbs: None
    Resist: None
    Null: Poison
    Vulnerabilities: None

Notes: Mixed damage from both dragons, but it is the magic stuff you'll want to focus on. With 2 targets that piercing magic damage can add up quick. Element resist of choice is poison.

Additionally, aside from the ST Stun potential, being afflicted with Poison will cause you to lose 2.5x as much HP as usual - so Ultra cure may be better overall than Curada.

No special kill mechanics either, though the dragons will use more dangerous attacks as their HP goes down. Focus fire them out one at a time to make it easier.

    Acolyte Archive:

Could potentially be a difficult fight as FFII synergy isn't exactly abundant. You'll definitely want a medica of some sort to deal with the AoE attacks. On top of that, Scott and Maria can both help Firion with ice element damage - just not from a perspective of it being their preferred element.

Like the previous CM, don't neglect some SSB's you may have in your vault collecting dust from this realm. HotE is still a good physical buff, Firion has a great BSB entry effect, and even Maria can get a 20% magic boost from her old SSB if you're running a mixed party.
