    before I go any further, for clarity I'm not suggesting this has been their plan all along, just that it seemed as if they're retconning in a way to say yeah this who these people are, enjoy!

    that said, that opening scene didn't necessarily have to be the crystarium-- just reminiscent architecture. And Ardbert co. were only able to tip the balance in favor of light because they act on its behalf. presumably they all have/had the echo

    The male Hyur in the opening has an Echo flashback to the battle of Silvertear Skies, something that only happened on the Source.It's a nice nod much like the Crystarium's design but nothing more.

    Am I hearing things or does the main theme of this expansion sound a lot like that saviour song from Lightning Returns?

    Otherwise really digging the dark tones, music and atmosphere/level design. Perfect for when things get stale.

    Turns out I wasn't crazy. Just checked the Help for Trusts and it says:

    When using Trust, coffers found in the duty will contain fewer items. In addition, some enemies will no longer drop rewards.

    Regarding the second portion I think it refers to materia, since it doesn't seem to drop when you run with Trusts. But coffers still have the same amount of items. Wonder if it's a bug and will be hotfixed tomorrow.

    That's correct, coffers with real people have 2 items in them and coffers with trusts only have 1. However, orchestrion rolls seem to drop fine from the final boss with trusts (I've gotten 2 already). Minions and materia may be another matter.

    I saw minions confirmed to drop with trusts too.

    Yeah chests always have more than one item usually so Trusts cut that. However you have to roll against 3 people otherwise while you grab everything with Trusts Overall it's a win with our NPC buddies.

    Overall running dungeons with Trusts is awful for XP (even if you have a long queue you can be doing FATEs or something in the interim)... however, for desynth, glamour, and minion/song farming trusts are the way to go.

    I'm wondering if they get stronger after you level them up so they get synced down for the dungeon... Will take some time before we see anyone test that though

    When you're doing the MSQ they're automatically at the level of the dungeon, but when you hit 80 and finish the story, they are brought to level 71 and you need to level them up to use again in higher dungeons. And it's going to be a grind. 71 > 72 they need over 13 mil exp, each Holmister run gives them 2,5mil

    After you finish the MSQ you unlock their "phantoms" but you need to level them up for future use.

    Edit: Btw this is not a story spoiler, it's what Yoshida called them in one interview pre-release.
