    I also liked Inquisition.

That first major zone in the game is just way too big but once you move on to the smaller more focused areas the game gets much better.

Origins is the tits, 2 and Inquisition have their charms as well. fine series but at this point don't really trust anything Bioware does. we'll see.

I think the only thing I really didn't like was how much of a slog repeat playthroughs felt like. I cleared out everything on my first playthrough, and trying to bang out another run through just sucked the life right out of me.

On the other hand, I played through DA2 like 8 times with no issues.

I liked the game and it felt like a slog even on the first playthrough. Some areas were just way too big without much interesting going on there.

Origins with kb/m is at the absolute top tier of the RPG genre. Console version was ass.

2 and Inquisition were fairly subpar from a gameplay perspective but propped up by quality storytelling and voice acting.

Basically what I'm saying is I want an actual healer class like was possible in Origins, and was then totally removed from the other games.

Man, the sad thing is I have the first two games. Got part of the way into 1, enjoyed it and just..life happened.

Have 2, but been told that was terrible.

    Haven't tried 3 yet.

Should I just skip to 3?

You should definitely finish up 1 because it is still the best one.

3 sounds like it will be needed to play this though because of...plot reasons.

    But yeah, skip 2.

I think 2 is still good to play just to get yourself better introduced to Varric since IMO he was the best companion. (He is also the narrator for the trailers)

2 is a great game and worth playing imo. Hawke's story is great, even if the the environment is small and the areas get reused a lot.

It also won't take you very long to get through, especially if you just duck a lot of the smaller sidequests.

Inquisition was also good but it's a much bigger time commitment than either of the other two even if you try to just stick to the main questline.

I would also still recommend using the Bioware world building app/webpage/whatever. It is a good way to just jump into 3 without playing all of 1/2 but still make important decisions for your world line without going with just its plain default.

I played them all on PC. The ONLY way to play Origins is on PC. Console is hot ass. There's a ton of mods too that make it look better. It's a less advanced Baldur's Gate, but still fun as hell.

DA2 on PC is also not terrible. Some good companions and storytelling. The dungeons are terribly designed because EA was just trying to pump it out ASAP and there's like 4 dungeon maps, it's hilarious (in the worst way) but again, lots of mods out there. It's much more action oriented, but I enjoyed it. I'd give it like a 70-75 range

Inquisitions I probably liked least out of the bunch. Story was pretty good. Everything else got old quick. Quests/checklist stuff was all the same crap over and over. You could steamroll through the game with a shield build. I don't know if it was a bug, but I had all shield users and I was basically invincible even through the hardest fights on the hardest difficulties. Took a lot of fun out of it for me.

I genuinely wonder if this game is going to do well and if anyone gives a fuck after they fucked up Mass Effect so bad. Definite wait on it vibes from this lol

concur on playing them all on PC if you can. it's the best platform for CRPG business and Dragon Age was (mostly) designed with it in mind.

as to the series, absolutely finish 1, best game in the series. can mod the shit out of it to up the polish. its big expansion Awakening is also mint. agree heartily on 2 being underrated and given an excessively bad reputation. yes the gameplay is the simplest and worst in the series, assets are reused heavily, but some of the story beats + characters are among the best Bioware has ever done. it's a deeply flawed gem, but man, the good bits are worth the bullshit.

Inquisition ofc play, because ya big plot reasons heading to 4. pretty good game in and of itself too, Trespasser DLC absolutely slaps, but def went tedious on the open world MMO business.

a fine series overall, and worth going through the whole shebang front to back.

2 is a great game. The biggest downfall of it is the overly reused maps. I think over all I liked 2 better than 3, but I’m also not a fan of giant open world games in general.

And yeah, DA Inquisition is probably a must play, as it seems like 4 is more DA Inquisition 2 than DA4. Yeah, all the games are connected, but 4 looks like it picks up right after inquisition.

Origins let you play as a dedicated healer/buffer, while the other games at best made healing a spell on some massive cooldown and every fight into a dps race until you ran out of potions. Was never really a fan of that mechanical change.

Basically going back to Origins (PC version) is an absolutely incredible RPG that hasn't been matched since. I still have enjoyed the entire series, and Inquisition got better over time once you got out of the first major area and moved into the tighter more focused zones.
