Tomlin deserves to be fired.
Lot of Rooney Rule talk on national radio, today. It looks like we are going from the most black head coaches in league history, down to like 2? 6 of 8 were canned.
It will be interesting with so many available positions.
Oakland hired Mike Mayock as their GM
Who is the 3rd Hc? Tomlin and Lynn are all I can think of.
Also, you can’t blame Goodell, when those coaches were justifiably fired. They were beyond bad, outside of Bowles, who I think will be a head coach again in a. Couple of years.
Mike Munchak has received several requests from teams for HC interviews
The Steelers locker room always seems to be in a state of "fuck errybody else, i'm gunna get mine". There's never any cohesion until some dude gets paralyzed. I can see that being the excuse.
He would get picked up immediately, but it’s far from an uncommon take. Lots of Steelers fans have been calling for his job since last year and previously. Several ex-Steelers have called him out publicly. He doesn’t have control of the locker room and has substantially underperformed, given their talent level the last 5 years.
Terry Bradshaw hates the guy and always calls him out, for what that is worth. He is certainly tied into the organization.
Also, HOF QB Big Ben took them to all of those playoffs. Any coach could have ridden on his back to their current success level.
Typically I’d agree, but his he squandered more resources than any HC, possibly ever.
I think the Gase firing is the biggest shocker. I’m not sure if he is a good HC or not, but it’s a bad time for Miami to go looking for a new coach. They have to be the worst prospect on paper:
* Cards have a young QB to build around, good or bad is TBD
* Jets have a good, young QB prospect in place
* Packers have Rodgers
* Browns are suddenly loaded with young talent
* Broncos have much better talent overall
* Bengals are arguably worse on paper, but they had no choice after 16 seasons and 0 playoff wins.
And I think almost all of those teams have a better draft position. Incredibly stupid move by Miami. They will probably end up with the worst Hc candidate, have no QB to speak of, have a mid range draft pick, and there aren’t even any strong QB candidates in the 2019 draft.
Schefter reporting Gase has already been contacted by a majority of the teams with openings for HC interviews
Multiple teams want to interview Bears DC Vic Fangio
Gase will end up on one of the teams with a rookie QB for sure. Browns, Jets, or Cards.
Also Steelers have had a terrible habit of playing down to their competition. A lot of losses to laughably bad teams over the years and that’s on the head coach.
Would you take a HC job of any of those teams over basically free-reign of the best defensive unit in the league? He's great, and I'd hate to lose him, but I wouldn't be surprised if he ends up staying for another year (again).
