Short term funding of small businesses and doing a roughshod deal that's not extensive would do absolutely fuck all for businesses and the economy as they will have future uncertainty past the short term. Underfunding now would be far worse than if they held out for a more extensive deal. Businessess can't be expected to bring back workers and operate normally when there is only a patchwork deal. Too much uncertainty, no economic outlook or backhaul. It's pissing away money.

Pelosi isn't wrong here. Senate Republicans have spent four years spending trillions of dollars. Now that they're about to lose three branches of government, they need to tighten that asshole and get back to those fiscal conservatism roots so they have something to bitch about the next four years.

Trump and Republicans want a short term deal that doesn't spend money that appears as a win before the election but that they know won't do a fucking thing without a comprehensive bill.

Most plausible explanations I've seen is he probably fell at some point and is on a blood thinner, so he's super susceptible to nasty bruising. Would also explain the IV bandage.
