    Dead Cells (PC-Steam / XB1 / PS4 / Switch / Android / iOS)

    https://store.steampowered.com/app/588650/Dead_Cells/

Deadcells is a quick paced side-scrolling hack and slash.

Enemies all have different attacks and patterns.

    Large boss enemies.

You lose everything when you die, however there is a sense of permanent progression.

You can trade cells that you earn through levels, at locations between levels for permanent upgrades.

The artwork is very stylized and everything feels very satisfying when it dies.

I have beat the first two bosses, the concierge (5 or 6 times) and the time keeper (twice).

    Reminds me of Castlevania.

This is a wonderful game. Surprised there wasn't a thread on it yet.

Motion Twin and Evil Empire today revealed the wealth of content awaiting Dead Cells fans in its upcoming The Bad Seed DLC, kicking off 2020 with two gorgeous new biomes, several new chill-inducing monsters and all-new weapons, plus an exceedingly creepy boss battle. In case you're not dying enough, more entirely unique ways to meet your maker are on the way, with a release planned on all platforms in Q1 of 2020 for a $4.99 price tag.

The Bad Seed DLC introduces new path choices in the early game ensuring that all players, no matter their level, will be able to enjoy it. Players will discover two new biomes inhabited by their own distinctive bestiary; The Arboretum, a lush paradise to deceivingly adorable creatures, and The Swamp, where an overgrown arboreal settlement inhabited by ambushing blow gunners and spear wielders is your only escape from the gargantuan purple ticks that reign uncontested on the ground.

Triumphing over the numerous perils, built by the Dead Cells devs with as much love as sadism, will be rewarded with a conceptually unique armoury, including the first double slot weapon as well as a very dedicated and loyal mushroom companion. Of course, vengeance visited upon the monsters and challenging new biomes that once slowed you down is its own reward, but a few new weapons never hurt anybody.

While offered as additional paid content, The Bad Seed DLC is not intended to mark the end of the free post-launch content updates the devs have proven to be committed to over the years. Free content, balancing, and systemic updates are planned at the same steady rhythm and of the same quality as seen in 2019. Revenue from paid content like The Bad Seed will allow the team to continue to expand Dead Cells’ base game with and for the fans for a long time to come. If there are any questions on this front the devs are doing an AMA right now over here.

Winner and nominee for dozens of Game of the Year 2018 awards, Dead Cells is a critically-acclaimed roguelike metroidvania action platformer set within an unpredictable castle packed with dark secrets, game changing items and hordes of deadly beasts. Players face tough risk-reward decisions, building their loadout from an incredibly diverse arsenal of weapons and abilities in the hopes of dodging the castle’s omnipresent threat of permadeath. A steady series of post-launch updates addressing fan feedback has evolved Dead Cells, keeping its action-centric adventure as surprising as it is rewarding.

    February 11th
Motion Twin and Evil Empire announced today that the exceptionally deadly and strikingly gorgeous new Dead Cells DLC, The Bad Seed, arrives to kill you on February 11th on PC, Switch, PlayStation 4 and Xbox One for $4.99. The new DLC for the heavily lauded Dead Cells game, The Bad Seed, takes players through all-new biomes, grants them incredible new weapons, sticks them in front of ultimate baddies and adds an awfully gross blood-sucking beast.

“This is the first paid extension to the game after sixteen major free updates, content additions and overhauls since Dead Cells hit Steam Early Access in 2017, and there are still a butt-load of things we’re planning to add to the game,” said Joan Blachere, creative director at Evil Empire.

Once the DLC is released into the wild, players will be introduced to new path choices in the early game, ensuring that all players, no matter their level, will be able to experience crushing new ways to die. With two new biomes inhabited by their own distinctive bestiary, The Arboretum, a lush paradise to deceivingly adorable creatures, and The Swamp, where an overgrown arboreal settlement inhabited by ambushing blow gunners and spear wielders is your only escape from the gargantuan purple ticks that reign uncontested on the ground. Bleh.

Triumphing over the numerous perils means you will be rewarded with a conceptually unique armoury, including the first double slot weapon as well as a very dedicated and loyal mushroom companion. Of course, vengeance visited upon the monsters and conquering the challenging new biomes that once slowed you down is its own reward, but a few new weapons never hurt anybody.

Available Now, Ultimate Physical Edition Announced for PS4 & Switch

    Spoiler: show
The exceptionally deadly new Dead Cells DLC, The Bad Seed, has planted itself on PC, Xbox One, PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch today from developers and publishers Evil Empire and Motion Twin for $4.99. Additionally, co-conspirators at Merge Games revealed Dead Cells - The Prisoner’s Edition today, a brand new megabundle coming to PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch on June 23rd - details below and at signatureeditiongames.com.

The new DLC for the heavily lauded Dead Cells game, The Bad Seed, is the seventeenth update to the game but does not alter the critical path for players still looking to conquer the main storyline of the game. Rather, The Bad Seed introduces players to an additional path to take, sporting all-new optional biomes, granting them incredible new weapons, and sticks them in front of really dangerous and possibly questionably hard but definitely gross new enemies.

Dead Cells – Prisoner’s Edition, announced today from Merge Games, is the ultimate physical version of the game for fans and collectors alike. Presented in an embossed tin, emblazoned with the Dead Cells iconic flame logo, the centrepiece of Dead Cells – Prisoner’s Edition is a detailed, 22cm-tall figurine of the Prisoner brandishing one of the game’s stranger weapons, the Vorpan.

The Dead Cells – Prisoner’s Edition also contains three collector pin badges, featuring all-new designs, four metallic stickers, together with an exclusive print art card and a numbered collector’s certificate. Music fans will be excited to know a 7”, two-track, orange vinyl record is also included.

Finally, the tin contains either a PlayStation 4 or a Switch copy of Dead Cells – Action Game of the Year (containing the game, a bonus artbook and keyring) together with a platform specific digital code allowing access to the new The Bad Seed DLC.

Dead Cells – The Prisoner’s Edition will be released on June 23rd for PlayStation 4 and Nintendo Switch priced at $109.99.

Fatal Falls DLC - January 26th
Motion Twin and Evil Empire announced that the upcoming Fatal Falls DLC is set to arrive on January 26 for $4.99/4,99€ on PC and consoles and released a badass new gameplay trailer revealing the DLC’s wickedly deadly new enemies, slick new weapons and two entirely new biomes. Fatal Falls DLC is the 22nd major update to the award-winning Dead Cells and only the second paid DLC since the game’s initial Early Access debut in 2017.

To celebrate the DLC release, the developers have also launched preorders on a newly announced bundle and slashed prices across all platforms starting in late January (dates vary slightly per platform, so fans should check their preferred platform shop starting January 26 for details on the 10+ day discount period).

A 33 percent off preorder discount is now live for the newest bundle, Dead Cells: The Fatal Seed Bundle for fans on Nintendo Switch ($19.99/19,99€). The sweet af bundle will also be on sale for 33 percent off across all platforms starting January 26th (sale dates will vary slightly per platform) for $19.99/19,99€. Bundle content includes all previous 20 free game updates plus the two paid DLCs, The Bad Seed and Fatal Falls (regularly priced $4.99/4.99€ each).

For interested newcomers and veterans of Dead Cells, the developers also announced several additional discounts starting January 26 into mid-February. Specific dates for these deals will vary slightly per platform so make sure you check your preferred digital platform for the precise details:

    • First-ever 50 percent-off the base game ($12.49 / €12.49) is a superwicked deal for fans interested in checking it out for the first time.

    • 33 percent-off “Dead Cells: The Fatal Seed Bundle” ($19.99 / €19.99) for those looking to go all the way.

    • 30 percent-off “The Bad Seed” downloadable content—never discounted before ($3.49 / €3.49).

The Fatal Falls DLC introduces a significant amount of new content for fans including two new mid-game biomes, a killer new boss and a slew of new weapons and items. The gameplay reveal trailer released today showcases new biomes The Fractured Shrines and The Undying Shores as well as a cranky new boss - The Scarecrow, who existing fans may recognize as the Royal Gardener gone wrong with Malaise.

The two new biomes are parallels to the ‘Stilt Village’, ‘Clock Tower’ and ‘Time Keeper’ areas and are intended as alternate paths to spice up your mid-game runs. Along the new paths fans can expect to encounter a homicidal pet sword (why not?) and new slightly psychotic enemies like the Myopic Crow, the Clumsy Swordsman, the Compulsive Gravedigger and a lot more (eight total) culminating with the final boss, The Scarecrow (might want to keep an eye on those exploding mushrooms when you encounter him).

And what’s an update without new weapons? Fatal Falls’ new maniacal sword (did we mention it flies?) is designed to bring Brutality players a real counterpart to the Great Owl and Mushroom Boi. Scythes, undoubtedly one of the more iconic weapons in existence, have also been added - they are attracted to enemies and will follow you around a bit. Seven new weapons in total have arrived: Lightning Rods, Ferryman’s Lantern, Scarecrow’s Sickles, Iron Staff, Snake Fangs, Serenade and Cocoon. Each one will help you in different areas of the two new biomes. And because we want you to feel good AND look good, a total of 10 new outfits have also been added to the update.

Fatal Falls marks the second paid DLC drop for the 2018 GOTY winning Dead Cells. The developers have kept a steady flow of free content on tap for its loyal community across all platforms for the past 30 months. The first paid DLC, The Bad Seed dropped last year for the same price of $4.99. Previous recent updates have included bringing six new mobs, massive systematic updates and the much-requested backpack, several new biomes, dozens of distinct (and mostly deranged) new enemies and a variety of badass weaponry to help you not die as much. Update 21, the Malaise Update, changed the way the late game mechanics work entirely. The Malaise Update will hit consoles in February; it is currently available on PC.
