No Straight Roads (PC/PS4) - Fight The EDM Overlords - June 30, 2020

Developed by Metronomik (Former Square Enix Devs)
Fight the massive EDM empire as an indie rock band in our unique PC & PS4 action game! Directed by Wan Hazmer, lead game designer of Final Fantasy XV, and Daim Dziauddin, concept artist of Street Fighter V, No Straight Roads was made with the intention of elevating the role of audio in game design without turning it into a rhythm game, and using strong visuals to tell a story of music cultures and ideals.

We bring the harmony of music and video games to the masses, without turning them into a rhythm game. We do this by having the world follow the music within the context of a proper action game similar to Nier Automata, Kingdom Hearts and Devil May Cry; The only difference is that you have a huge advantage in this game if you understand the relationship between the boss attacks and the music.

Your music can change the world in No Straight Roads. You can transform certain props into weapons with the power of music. Your play will also bring changes into the music, as it shifts between rock and EDM in a seamless and dynamic manner.

We also want to represent music in its entirety: its culture, its creativity and its many stories. We also respect the medium; We tell these stories in a way that can be only told in video games. Less reliance on cutscenes and more on visual storytelling. The game is not just about rock versus EDM, but it’s also about the clash of ideals and different mindsets of why people play music.

At Metronomik, we are passionate about the video game industry and its legacy. A few of our team members have worked on Square Enix titles. 31st January marks the 22nd anniversary of Final Fantasy VII, hence it’s a truly special day for us.

This new key visual created by our concept artist Ellie Yong is our way of celebrating this masterpiece. It’s both a tribute and a testament to our ambitions.

    Happy birthday FFVII!!

    Delayed to 2020
Hi everyone! My name is Idir and I’m Associate Producer on No Straight Roads. We have some exciting news today revealing the amazing voice cast that will be appearing in the Japanese version of the game, as well as the composer.

If you haven’t heard of No Straight Roads before, it’s a music-based action-adventure set in the world of Vinyl City, where our two heroes Mayday & Zuke must lead a musical revolution to take back the city from a corrupt EDM empire. The game plays like a traditional third-person action game but is inspired heavily by music. You can move and attack freely, and switch between Mayday & Zuke at any time, but keep an ear out for the music as enemies will always attack to the beat!

First up, we have Ayane Sakura who will be co-starring as Mayday, one of the game’s main playable characters and guitarist of indie rock band Bunk Bed Junction. Sakura-san has lent her voice to many games and TV shows previously, but you might recognize her from Psycho-Pass and My Hero Academia.

We’re also excited to confirm Jun Fukuyama (Joker in Persona 5) will be co-starring as Zuke, Bunk Bed Junction’s drummer and the game’s second playable character. As well as playing Joker in Persona 5, Fukuyama-san has featured in many other games and TV shows, including Code Geass and Dissidia: Final Fantasy.

Joey Bizinger, aka YouTube’s The Anime Man, will also be playing the role of the ‘Music Elitist’, a supporting character that players will encounter while exploring the world of Vinyl City.

For the music, we’re collaborating with Masahiro “Godspeed” Aoki. He’s known to have been the composer of Final Fantasy XV: Comrades and the Sengoku Basara series, and the last part of the new No Straight Roads trailer features one of his pieces for the game.

As a small team making our first game, we’re so grateful to have such incredible voice talent appearing in the game and are really excited to show you our new trailer giving you a first glimpse at their performances.

Thanks for checking out our trailer and we can’t wait to show you more ahead of the game’s release in early 2020.

    June 30th

    Spoiler: show
Sold Out and Metronomik are thrilled to announce that action-adventure No Straight Roads will be rocking onto the PlayStation 4 computer entertainment system and PC via the Epic Games Store on June 30, 2020.

Sold Out is also excited to reveal the No Straight Roads Collector’s Edition, a funky physical package that includes an exclusive double-sided vinyl LP containing a selection of tracks from the game’s energetic OST, a 64-page ‘The Art of NSR’ artbook featuring never-before-seen artwork, and a set of official No Straight Roads drumsticks. The Collector’s Edition is available to pre-order now on PlayStation 4 for £59.99/€69.99/$69.99 SRP.

Directed by Wan Hazmer, lead game designer of Final Fantasy XV, and Daim Dziauddin, concept artist of Street Fighter V, No Straight Roads is an action-adventure game that mashes together rhythm-infused combat with a vibrant offbeat world and a killer soundtrack.

The game pits two passionate indie rock band members, Mayday and Zuke, against EDM empire NSR, whose tight grip on Vinyl City is smothering the expression of other music genres. Explore eclectic districts, face colossal bosses and lead a musical revolution to uncover NSR’s evil intentions and save Vinyl City from corruption.

“No Straight Roads is unlike anything we’ve played before, it’s in-your-face, loud and a pretty crazy game,” said Sarah Hoeksma, Marketing Director at Sold Out Games. “With so much serious news in the world right now, we hope NSR’s quirkiness and originality can bring some much needed fun and funky music to gamers out there.”
