FUCK YES!!!!!! I said to myself years ago when I first read this that it would make a good movie and they should do it! I didn't think it would be this soon though lol, thought we would see a remake of 'The Shining' first.

Looks really good, I hope they keep certain parts of the book the same, especially considering what's been going on lately in the country.

    Big spoiler
    Spoiler: show
Specifically where the bad guys accidently get measles from one of the kids they eat and start dying. Also looks like the hotel is still around, so hopefully they keep dad (Jack Nicholson) appearing and saving him and them reconciling as well.

Movie was fucking fantastic. I daresay the best adaptation on any King work I've seen. Went in with zero expectations. There were some definite changes with the end of the movie which I didn't care for, but only when comparing the book. Overall, movie was SOLID.

That’s fantastic to hear I was getting a bit worried as I saw more trailers.

Is it required to have seen The Shining prior?

I'd say it's quite mandatory, yes.

Fantastic movie, was everything I had hoped for when I wondered years ago if they would make a movie adaptation.

    Spoiler: show
Loved how they fused Shining book ending with Doctor Sleep ending. Also had a lol moment when the ghosts immediately turned on Danny after they ate Rose and he had that "oh shit! Didn't think this far ahead!" moment.

Kinda slightly disappointed they didn't keep the measles killing them part, but only because it was such a wonderful "fuck you" parting gift from the kid they killed in the book.

Also really really loved how they recreated the Shining opening when they drove up the mountain.

I bought the book when it came out but never read it, would you recommend reading it before seeing this film or would it make no difference?

I'd say read it, but it's not necessary, the movie is pretty much the book with some changes.

Great movie, but after watching it it feels like a great star wars movie. Force ghosts, force powers and training the next generation.
