Didn't the Cowboys do the same thing for Pacman? Within 3 weeks he attacked his assigned security.

It wouldn’t be as much a focus on maintaining player behavior but partnering with NFL teams to create an advising service for new players as they transition into the NFL culture.

How hard would it be to make newly signed players to attend 2-3 hours of advising and counsel a week to discuss and present to them many of the different ways their lives are going to be changing. I mean, it’s shocking to me that this isn’t a service already, a mandatory one.

You want to be in our team? Ok we will pay you millions to play, here’s how you back up our investment other than your performance on the field. This could lead to greater contracts for players who graduate or excel in programs like this.

A team always invests in a risk when they sign a player. There’s no guarantee that a player is going to perform. And there’s no guarantee they won’t fuck up outside of the league as well. A player can increase their potential earnings by presenting less risk to the franchise by showing hey I’ve completed these advising courses and here’s a step by step plan of my future for myself and here’s how I’m mitigating risks to myself in various ways to help better ensure performance on the field.

There is a rookie symposium every year already. 2-3 hours a week is a lot. These guys already spend a ton of time practicing/lifting/watching film etc and probably aren't keen to give up some of their free time.

The issue is the players that need this the most (the guys getting big rookie deals) are also the guys with the leverage to say "nah fuck that." If a UDFA does something dumb, oh well, cut him.

Cutting talent is lose/lose situation. Implementing systems that help deter that doesn’t sound like a folly investment.

Right now the talent has leverage, as you said, they can just say nah fuck it and be picked up with little penalty by another team. But if the league really wants to get their shit together they put in the appropriate systems to disallow certain behaviors through more strict consequences. To balance these consequences players are given better resources to improve their behavioral standards.

i think you're forgetting the fact that there's a cba and if it's not mandatory in the contract between the players union and league, players can pick and choose whatever the shit they feel like showing up for. it's just one more thing the league would have to bargain for, which gives the players union more power

i guarantee the players union doesn't give a shit about what you're talking about. they're all about the players that are already established, not the rookies, because that's how unions work

Yeah I’m not ignoring that at all but I mean we were basically playfully putting an idea out there. I’m not about to get up and do this shit. Moving on.

Schefter reporting that Seattle made Russel Wilson's self-imposed deadline.

He's signed an extension to make him the highest paid player in the NFL.

    4yrs 140mil that includes a 65mil signing bonus

And there goes the Hawks chances at signing free agents and trading for a chance to be competitive!

The opposite of the Tom Brady contract.
