You don't solve an issue by shutting up about it.
Raise awareness. Don't be that person. Learn the way that guy in the twitter exchange did.
Raise awareness for when something’s not even there? Not saying there aren’t legitimate issues to be discussed, but shit like the Captain Marvel “controversy” is what’s tiresome. Crap that clearly and blatantly wasn’t there until a few clickbait journalists collected a bunch of random tweets and wrote an article over it.
Some people need to stop with the victim complex and stop constantly looking for those random twitter posts from nobodies that offend you.
I mean doesn't the James Woods and the backlash to Larson's comments demonstrate it's not nobodies though?
Also, hot take: discrimination is bad but gate keeping is good. The problem with raging manchild nerds is the former exclusively.

Except it's more than nobodies and very large names and celebrities piling onto the backlash. This has been going on for months. So much so that Rotten Tomatoes even had to change their reviewing system to stop the movie from getting tanked. Just because you don't see it doesn't mean it isn't prevalent.
Was all that shit about how haters should stay home and not see Captain Marvel Larson? I'm not gonna deny the manchildren are over blowing this cause thats kinda what they do but the stuff I've been seeing from the other side seems pretty fucking antagonistic.
5-6 people hold down and assault a single black man in custody.
Milkster are you the one gay porno dude who went bonkers?
Well Milkster hasn't hit the point of all white straight dudes should cross the street so they don't trigger a gay black dude that's walking alone level yet, but I fear that may be coming soon.
Ok
Imagine people wanting equal representation is considered being forced down people's throats.

And as my own internet experience goes, you can pretty much pick one or more of the following outcomes:
1) "It was just a joke, lighten up."
2) "People need thicker skin."
3) "Fucking SJWs/snowflakes/etc. ruining everything."
4) Doubling down on what got called out.
5) Inappropriately invoking the 1st amendment.
6) A crybaby explosion full of profanity and strawmen.
Stuff like the above is largely why I don't believe in the old, "Don't feed the trolls!" trope with a side of anyone willfully calling themselves anti-SJW being way worse than those they're complaining about. Is there fake and overhyped outrage from time to time? Sure. Does it mean people out there aren't being shitlords that they don't personally observe? Nope. Like, just sticking to weeb culture, the month has been pretty awkward with the whole #KickVic fallout and his fans harassing the shit out of his accusers with the same playbook used on Blaysey-Ford and other sexual assault victims that just reaffirms why so much shit goes unreported. The bad eggs aren't gonna change without being confronted. The earlier cited author chick could've just quietly ignored the guy and moved on, but instead she schooled his ass. Will he ever try to mansplain again? Dollars to donuts, probably, but if the exchange at least makes him slow down before hitting send, it's progress.
I think that all these outraged fuckwits on the internet are like measles they existed before the internet but society was "vaccinated" against them because they were isolated. Pockets of them would pop up here and there but they couldn't band together to get greater infection. Now the internet is the equivalent of the antivaxxing movement in society. All of a sudden all the viruses can connect the dots and infect the in between areas.
It doesn't help that as others have said a very loud vocal minority spouting a controversial stance is going to get way more news coverage and will in effect create its own firestorm feeding on itself while the majority silently go about their lives not being assholes and choosing what they do or don't partake in rather than complaining.
