They out here talking like 8k raytracing 120fps all play nice together, when we're seeing Quake II RTX barely break 60 fps on top end Nvidia cards.

Quake 2 RTX is 100% raytraced no? For the next few years raytracing on consoles is just going to be a buzzword meme for awhile since it's only real application is doing very specific work ontop of a traditionally rendered scene, which I'd wager most games will use it for doing realtime GI to some degree.

Raytracing doesn't mean much when there are sample ceilings, clamps, and limitations within render engines and such. On a general level it's cool and is definitely a buzzword, but for anyone who's deep into vis-dev it's all about how it's utilized.

I'm not dubious of their claims, but they're acting like they had to announce something today when clearly they have nothing to talk about. If it's not coming out till holiday 2020, why are you talking about it now when you haven't even got a finalized name to show off? Idk, felt like they thought it obligatory to talk about next gen with stadia coming out, since they leaned heavily into console streaming being the future. I can see why Sony got out if they're playing catch up to stadia as well.

Microsoft's entire ecosystem is going to revolve around x cloud and streaming your console. Basically the exact same thing stadia is sans the established community.
