After years in development at Hardsuit Labs and months of teasing from Paradox Interactive, we’re very excited to reveal Vampire: The Masquerade - Bloodlines 2!

A true successor to the original must be written by the creative mind behind the unforgettable, undying characters of that cult classic. Thus, Brian Mitsoda has returned to write the next step in the Bloodlines franchise. Fans can be sure the deep, reactive, character-driven storytelling of the original is coming back… maybe even alongside a few fan-favourite characters?

Created in an act of vampire insurrection, your existence ignites a blood war among the vampire factions who run Seattle. To survive, you’ll choose a clan and enter into uneasy alliances with the competing factions in a world which will react to every choice you make. Unleash your supernatural powers against your prey, but be mindful of your surroundings at all times or run the risk of breaking the Masquerade -- the absolute law of secrecy that keeps Vampire society hidden from humanity. Bloodlines 2 will provide you the choice of a number of clans, with more clans added to the game post-launch free of charge. I am beyond hype. Honestly out of all the game announcements in the last decade, this has probably surprised me the most. I remember going into fucking Software Etc. (before it was owned by Gamestop) and buying the box version of the first game and being absolutely in love with it from the second it started. I can't wait.

Barring some stupid price point, I'll probably all about the Premium Edition. I'm even willing to pay for 24 hour pre-access, and that's something that's not normally a big selling point for me.

Here I thought the next thing I'd need to pre-order is Cyberpunk, then Paradox of all companies does this, even bringing back Mitsoda. If anyone reading this hasn't played the first one, go do it NOW, just make sure you dl the fan patch.

No Day/Night Cycle, Almost Always 1:30 AM

DualShockers asked Creative Director Martin Ka’ai Cluney about how time will progress throughout the story in Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. He revealed to us that while time will progress through the story, the development team chose not to include a day/night cycle in the game because there wasn’t enough to justify playing in the daytime “In terms of a day/night cycle, we just didn’t want to get into it. We didn’t feel like there was enough benefit to actually supporting it. You’re always there at night, you can’t do anything in the day.”

Cluney described the game’s setting as “effectively always 1:30 in the morning.” He says this because as players are exploring Seattle they will see that “everyone’s in bed, bars are still open, but it’s too late for anyone to really do much.”

Like I previously mentioned, time will progress throughout the story of Vampire: The Masquerade – Bloodlines 2. “We do have ways to push you through the story. You can go to sleep…and sometimes things will happen while you’re sleeping. Other times, you’ll need to sleep, vampires need rest too,” Cluney told DualShockers. “So there is no day-night cycle, but we are very much pushing you through time, if not always pushing you through the story. ”
