After odyssey I don't think I can go back to any of the old AC combat lol
AC2/Brotherhood/Revelations you could get so stupidly overpowered with killstreaks and counterkills that you could murder the entire city in one go it felt like. That was fun.
I don't know if I could go back and play them. The Ezio Collection that was supposedly remastered versions of the game actively looks worse.
And the original AC? Don't even try, it's awful. But in 2007 it was the tits.
I could not get into AC1 but enjoyed the heck out of 2 and Brotherhood.
Tried 3, was meh. Kept meaning to try Black Flag/Syndicate/etc., but got burned out.
Black Flag is pretty great for the ship combat alone
Haven’t played Origins yet, but Odyssey was incredible (one of the only games I’ve done everything in)

Story and game length is less bloated than Odyssey, rap battles confirmed, along with dual wielding.
I really liked the length of Odyssey in that it seemed like it kept going and going, but with good pacing as well. So many games are good for like 1/2-3/4ths then they rush the last part of the game to wrap everything up, which didn't happen here.
Odyssey was the first game, and still only game I ever platinum'd. I found Origins to be fun but it felt like a chore to get through. I also played Origins>Odyssey immediatly one-after-the-other and just had immensely more fun with Odyssey.
That said, I have only played Black Flag, Origins, and Odyssey, which I know are the ones that people say are not true to the AC style.
Like 75% of the AC games are rejected by some people in the "that's not Assassin's Creed!" crowd. At this point, I think the only ones that count are the Ezio trilogy. Maybe the original, though I don't know if even those purists want to claim that one.
Newest information from the press release is that it will be an Epic/UPlay exclusive on PC and those who preorder (all platforms) will get a bonus mission at launch.
The Way of the Berserker, in which players will join a legendary Norse Berserker on his quest for revenge.
Sigh, reports out now that Assassin's Creed will mostly run at 30FPS on Xbox X.
