Yeah there's been 10 years without a book, I don't think there is a chance in hell he finishes the series given his age. He really lost the plot when he decided to ditch the time skip.

The "fourth" book technically took 10 years to finish, being split across two volumes.
Books 4 and 5 were also not very good. 5 was better but he hasn't touched the quality of the first 3 in a long time.

I read them together which probably helped a lot, otherwise I feel like 4 would've been a slog to get through.
always felt 4 was misunderstood but aye it is a drop-off in quality from 2 and 3 which were the pinnacles of the series. 5 is mostly more of the same, Martin sprawled his story out horrifically and began to make narrative progress at a snail's pace.
Man doesn't need to write another word for the rest of his life and he'd still be set. Wouldn't get my hopes up for the next book.

Since it's just 'in early development' and a sequel i figured here fit better than a new thread.
oh no
Martin’s gotta keep finding things to distract him. Last blog of his said he finished a batch of Cersei chapters and now was going to work on Jamie and Brienne. Can’t keep that kind of forward momentum going.
Bran, the King! If it doesn't have Benioff and Weiss, it could be good.
i dun wahn it
