A report on the UK oil industry found that 22k tons (164k barrels) have spilled from oil platforms between 2017 & 2022 than what they've been permitted for.

Energy campaigning group Uplift obtained the data through Freedom of Information requests to the offshore oil and gas regulator, the Offshore Petroleum Regulator for Environment and Decommissioning.

Uplift's analysis suggested that between 2017 and 2022, 22,000 metric tonnes of oil were discharged in UK waters, or 164,000 barrels. In comparison, the Poole Harbour spill in March leaked 200 barrels of oil.

Companies are allowed to release some oil as a by-product of routine production and are given permits that allow discharges.

Uplift's analysis suggested 58% of releases were allowed under those government permits. The remaining 42% breached the permits.

"For context, the UK annually produces about 40-45 million tonnes of oil and up to 40 billion cubic metres of gas," Offshore Energies UK said.

The five companies that Uplift said had spilled the most oil between 2017 and 2022 were Dana, Repsol Sinopec, CNR, Shell, and Apache.

Chemical plant fire in Shepard, TX outside of Houston. Residents are being told to shelter in place, people not already at home are not being allowed to return home.

Thanks to legislation passed by Gov. Abbot, it's not public knowledge as to what is exactly being burned there.

Virtually every contractor I knew growing up in texas had 15 year olds on the job, and paid cash. Had a good friend that did roofing every summer. He tried to get me to work with them but may - August on a roof carrying stacks of shingles up a ladder? Ooof.

Crazy, used to live right around there. I remember when I lived in Columbia MD and a gas explosion happened in one of the condo's across the street from my apartment. Shook the entire house

They know what caused it now. It was a 500 gallon propane tank that was leaking.

BALTIMORE, March 26 (Reuters) - A container ship smashed into a four-lane bridge in the U.S. port of Baltimore in darkness on Tuesday, causing it to collapse and sending cars and people plunging into the river below.

Rescuers pulled out two survivors, one in a "very serious condition," and were searching for more in the Patapsco River after huge spans of the 1.6-mile (2.57 km) Francis Scott Key Bridge crumpled into the water.

The ship "lost propulsion" as it was leaving port, and crew on board notified Maryland officials they had lost control of the vessel, ABC News reported, citing an unclassified U.S. intelligence report.

Baltimore officials said at least seven vehicles plunged into the water but could not give an exact figure.

Kevin Cartwright, the spokesperson for Baltimore City Fire Department, earlier told Reuters that as many as 20 people could be in the river along with "numerous vehicles, and possibly a tractor-trailer or a vehicle as large as a tractor-trailer, (that) went into the river."

"This is a mass-casualty, multi-agency event," he said. "This operation is going to extend for many days."
