Thoroughly enjoyed the demo. Will probably pick this up on launch.

I hope there is a patch released for this demo. If loot collected in the world isn't going to show up in the inventory, not much reason to play the full game.
The completely flat combat (no jumping/no verticality) and entirely linear missions seems not great from what I played.
Maybe the game opens up more but just feels like a Gears clone tied into a more socialable co-op aspect.
After getting to actual gameplay, yeah this game is a lot of fun. Chose trickster. The abilities are really fun. Will probably end up picking this up.
Game is legit good, its like division on steriods. IF you are into loot and tinkering and makng builds its gonna be great. If you are looking for a destiny clone go play destiny Options are geat.
I was not impressed in any capacity. I'll give credit for offering a free demo so I can know to never bother when the game is inevitably on sale.
Dated graphics, horrendous writing/dialogue with cutscenes at locked 30 fps, motion blur that can't be disabled, generic gunplay and janky cover mechanics.
But since this is a SE game I'm sure you'll all love so I'll abandon the thread.
I mean I like it because it's a playable looter shooter. The bar is not very high for this genre to begin with. Destiny 2 is the best of them and that game is also dogshit but I still play it.
I will agree with Proth's discord comment, this does feel like a game that was designed for the PS3/360 era. Load screens for doors that lead into another load screen for either a CS or new area. What?! So many missing textures and models. The game will randomly rubber band when running around or entering/exiting cover. The camera never appears to be on your side. If you're dealing with rush mobs and have to dodge a lot, the camera will lose track of you making it incredibly hard to tell what is happening. Dialogue plays over itself repeating sometimes and if it's in a CS, the CS will end the scene before the character finishes talking.
I'm annoyed that world npc's only have one line of dialogue and repeat it almost non-stop. The menus are not very snappy. It's a lot of fade-to-black with a 2-5 second delay. Snipers without scopes are horrendous in open areas because of the distance fog. The only enemies that appear on your radar are the ones that initially load into the zone, any new mobs won't be flagged.
I like that they got the guy who played James Holden in The Expanse as the male MC VA. I also like that you can train mobs to previous areas, makes up for the weird cover system, sometimes.
For me it's kind of the yin to D2's yang. The core gameplay is janky and unpolished, but the skill trees, loot customization, and powerful abilities with short cooldowns are all things I don't get from D2. It's not gonna last me nearly as long I don't imagine, in part because the gunplay and cover system lacks the comfortable feeling of Destiny, where I can just hop back in and kill stuff because shooting feels so solid and refined, and in part because obviously it's not a live service game so it will be 'completed' at some point. That said, the build tinkering and feeling of meaningful skills is definitely appealing enough to me for a short-term game.
I don't like how the game runs, but as I attempt to farm legendaries, I get the hook.
Looking forward to eventually getting this drop;

Got my first legendary, the Iceberg. Not sure if it's buggy or if I just don't understand how it works. The way it reads crit shots are supposed to emit a freezing blast, does not say "has a chance" but in practice I rarely see it proc. Does solid damage though.
I mean, they've continually said it's not a live service game.
It is an always-online game, though. There was a moment where the demo was unplayable due to servers crashing.

I imagine the always online is just for drops (well, and a bit of matchmaking).
The loot gets passed out/verified/added to account so that you don't get Diablo 2 / Phantasy Star Online "never trust the client" issues.
these are honestly amazing responses from the devs for just a demo

I've never seen epic or legendary loot in the shops. Must be witchcraft.
I plan on getting the game, just not at launch.
