    Watch_Dogs 3: Legion - October 29, 2020

Leaked by Amazon UK, Confirmed by Ubisoft
Watch_Dogs Legion is set in a near-future, dystopian version of London. It’s a post-Brexit world in which society, politics and technology have changed and altered London’s fortunes. London is one of the most iconic cities in the world and has had a massive influence on all of Western Culture for centuries… London makes total sense for WD, as the city has one of the highest surveillance levels in the world making this the perfect playground.

    That looks amazing.

My spring 2020 is already shot.

    Q1 TBD - Vampire: Bloodlines 2
    3/3/20 - Final Fantasy VII Remake - part 1
    3/6/20 - Watch_Dogs Legion
    4/16/20 - Cyberpunk 2077

When did spring become the new holiday season? I'm actually hoping 1-2 of these get pushed back at this point.

I really want to know the extent of their 'play as any npc' system, as there's realistically only so many voice actors you can hire to cover all of the needed story dialog, as well as only so many sets of animations to build so everyone doesn't have the same run/jog. I'm expecting it to guide to your options, like the example 'gameplay' footage, there'd only be the one or two acceptable pre-made npcs in a given scenario that you can hire along for a story-driven task, and the game will try and force you into a death-situation with your current character(s) to keep the roster at a controllable size no matter which state of the game you're in, just to keep it sane from a development standpoint.

They said they used many voice actors, and then use voice algorithms to vary those voices up. Then writers made material where little things can change for each individual depending on their character but still keep the overall story the same. It's entirely possible for you to be in a scene where two characters are voiced by the same actor and you cant tell cause of the algorithms.

The Brexit vote happened in the middle of development, so they made that the backdrop, but at the same time made it more political than they originally intended.

Although he's aware people will primarily buy and play the game because it's "fun entertainment", Clint says his team were conscious of the political statement behind it - especially after the UK voted to leave the European Union.

"Our initial vision for the game was long before Brexit ever happened.

"London was a choice for us because of its diversity and its culture.

"There are hundreds of languages spoken there and when you can play as anyone you want to be able to have a lot of choices, right?

"And when the Brexit vote happened, it became part of our world... part of the history of our game and it fell into the backdrop of what we were creating."

He suggests political events in the real world made the game appear to be more "charged than we originally intended" but also sees it as a lesson for developers.

"I think as game creators, we need to be more bold and more courageous.

"People are going to find the game engaging… But then they can take something more from it and it can open their eyes or make them think differently.

"That's what we aspire to. It's saying, 'you don't necessarily agree with me about x and y and I don't necessarily agree with you, but we have bigger problems'.

"But the purpose of the game is for you to enjoy it whenever.

"It's the same as a book, the purpose of a book is for you to enjoy it. If it happens to engage you politically or otherwise, makes you think about things differently, great.

"That's not political. That's just what culture does."

Ubisoft and Joseph Gordon-Levitt's HitRecord are teaming up seeking indie musicians to provide music for the game. Ubisoft is seeking ten original tracks and are paying $2k for each with payments being withheld until January 2020.

Is $2k per track cheap? Expensive? I suppose that probably depends on the level of band they're after?

It's cheap as in there is no mention of royalties. Usually in these deals, the company a submitted track is sent to ends up owning the track outright.

As far as freelance goes, it's not bad for an up and coming artist. Cheaper than keeping music people on staff anyways, especially experienced ones with many games under their belt. Dont gotta pay them benefits either.

The Last of Us II, Vampire, and Watch_Dogs have been pushed back, so now it looks like my summer / fall has already been shot. Wonder if any of these will slip back far enough to be released simultaneously on current gen and next gen consoles.

    "Coming Soon to Next Gen."

I feel like a lot of these games coming out right before next gen arrives - Cyberpunk 2077, AC Valhalla, Watch Dogs Legion, V:tM Bloodlines 2, are all going to have versions coming out very, very late on this gen. While I want to play them, I think I can likely wait until the next gen version officially arrives.

I think it's more every game has an upped res version coming out on next gen that runs better cause this gen is so overstretched. Im not dying to wait to play though cause these are all still "last gen" games that aren't really pushing any boundaries as far as I can see technically.
