I beat Zestiria and don't remember Alishia. Even after reading about her it's only a vague memory. Same with Rose; honestly. I remember Sorey, wind buddy, fire chick, top hat dude, second top hat dude, and Edna.

I liked most of Rose's transformations more than Sorey's tbh
I liked everything about Rose better than Sorey, honestly. I liked Alisha too but I never really take to the Spear characters in Tales games.
Actually thinking about it the friend was a water dude so I didn't even remember him that well.
Just a forgettable game.

Rose was terrible.
I liked Sorey well enough, but the cast was just meh.
The Go Shiina tracks in the game were amazing though.
Funnily enough the anime did a better job than the game.
Played through Zestiria twice. Once when it came out, it was my first tales game. I really liked it then. Story wasn't too amazing, but I loved the character interactions. Replayed it about a year ago and I still think it's good, but it has a lot of plot issues. The battles are fun, especially if you don't abuse Armatus. Music was good, especially the elemental trial ones. Fuck that gear system though.
Edna, Dezel, Alisha and Rose hard carried the game for me.
Oh neat. I just saw her live on Tues
Id really like to see her get to collab on a full game OST. I think she would be fantastic.
So now that some of you have played the vertical slice, demo, is this still a day one buy? I was intrigued by the gameplay, but there wasn't much else presented to sell me on the game. I purchased and have been pushing through Vesperia, mostly because I've never played a Tales Of, and have been pleased that is somewhat plays like a Star Ocean knockoff. The story is fine, but hinges on a total lack of communication between characters. Should I go ahead on purchasing Arise, should I expect the same sort quality albeit with a graphical facelift and button-mashery?
I have not played the demo yet, but Tales is kind of at a weird crossroads where it's hard to tell what to expect from Arise. Longtime producer Hideo Baba left for SE in 2017 (and subsequently left/was fired in 2019); and many contribute the series mixed output since his arrival to him. He was only brand manager for the standout of Vesperia during his tenure, otherwise his oversight as producer had a mix of okay and bad to worse. I think a lot of series fans are going into Arise cautiously optimistic but not quite knowing what to expect under different direction.
It feels like Star Ocean to an extent because it is. Telenet was the original company. During the deal to get Tales of Phantasia off the ground commercially, some splintered off and formed Tri-Ace.
Tbh after the demo I'm not a fan of the visual direction yet, especially the change with skits and UI - I always liked the anime character drawings in those and Tales was one of the last big jRPG series to have those, but I get why they had to get rid of those when they moved to the more serious 3D design.
The change to skits is really the only thing I didn't really like about the demo. Vesperia is one of my favourite games ever so it's hard for me to compare it to a demo, but I'm optimistic about the game. Tales has always been a character driven franchise, and I think the Arise characters have potential.
So... the demo boss has a "weak point" the game points you to attack, but is there a way to focus the weak point? I couldn't find one, so my artes would naturally pull me away from the weak point. Kind of frustrating honestly.
Other than Lindsey's performance, they also announced a new mobile game - Tales of Luminaria
Sure it'll go just as well as the other two
