Review embargo on a few features dropped today and there's a bunch of articles out. The quick resume feature sounds fucking fantastic.
This is probably the best article about the stuff they can talk about so far - https://arstechnica.com/gaming/2020/...t-dive-begins/
as a d2 player seeing this pleased me
Also sounds like it's a very silent console, which is nice.
Man, that MS response to memory is like they thought of a good comeback six years ago and have been waiting to use it. "The Jerk Store called; they're all outta you!"
I mean that's not an official Microsoft account but sure
They did post this one though
both are clearly riffing off the Sony original
sorry for Kotaku link but they had an interview with Phil Spencer where he casts a lot more doubt on PS5 releases of future Bethesda games
https://kotaku.com/xbox-boss-phil-sp...nit-1845392984
Spencer had said in previous interviews that existing deals involving ZeniMax games would still be honored, suggesting that something like the time-traveling game Deathloop would still come first to PS5, as previously announced. Beyond that, though, fans have wondered whether ZeniMax games would go Xbox and PC-only. In other words, they’ve wondered if PlayStation would stop getting Fallouts and miss out on the sequel to Skyrim.
I wondered that, too.
“Is it possible to recoup a $7.5 billion investment if you don’t sell Elder Scrolls VI on the PlayStation?” I asked.
“Yes,” Spencer quickly replied.
Then he paused.
“I don’t want to be flip about that,” he added. “This deal was not done to take games away from another player base like that. Nowhere in the documentation that we put together was: ‘How do we keep other players from playing these games?’ We want more people to be able to play games, not fewer people to be able to go play games. But I’ll also say in the model—I’m just answering directly the question that you had—when I think about where people are going to be playing and the number of devices that we had, and we have xCloud and PC and Game Pass and our console base, I don’t have to go ship those games on any other platform other than the platforms that we support in order to kind of make the deal work for us. Whatever that means.”
As of right now. The Prey & Dishonored collections are not being ported to PS5, only the Series X/S, but both can be transferred from the PS4 to 5. This is so far the only example we have of M$ being anti-Sony with Bethesda products.
Oh it's certainly not set in stone one way or the other, but "Can you recoup without selling ES6 on PS5? Yes." sounds a lot more exclusive-leaning than the initial vague "we'll look at it case by case"
I would figure bigger titles like Fallout and ES would go cross platform, but any future things like new IP's would be X-Box/PC Only.
Doubtful.
Sony doesn't publish their big name first party IPs on other platforms. Other then Minecraft (which was already out on other platforms before buy Mojang) and Ori for the Switch, Microsoft hasn't been releasing their own IPs on other consoles either.
Microsoft is playing the long game with gamepass. I could really see any scenario. 1. You can ONLY get future Bethesda games on PC or Xbox, or 2. Let it be anywhere to appear more open and consumer friendly while saying "Sure you could buy that game for $70 on PS5, or just play it for essentially free from us."
Don't forget xcloud.
So even if they lose out on the PS5 market they're gaining the mobile world, which would likely more then make up for it.
pfft, the Needler
In other MCC news, Halo 5 isn't coming to the collection. All teams have been refocused on Infinite.
