You also need to consider parents buying presents for kids. "I want the new XBox." There's a lot of parents that aren't going to know or care what the difference is as long as their kid gets their Xbox.

Took me long enough just to figure out (and remember) the main difference between the S and X versions. Then you add in disc and discless versions and it feels like you need a flow chart to decide which system you want unless you're familiar with all the differences. There's no reason for Xbox console names to be so confusing.

Feels like an eternity ago, but I worked at Wal-Mart in the electronics section when the 360 launched, and into the differentiation of the core and elite systems. I lost track of how many people didn't understand the difference, only that their kid, nephew, grand kid, etc wanted an Xbox. It didn't help that Wal-Mart had a habit of stocking all sorts of special editions and such long past their relevant period. We'd regularly have 3+ different Xboxes for sale thanks to those other versions or bundle packs that were largely similar in that they'd all play the same games just as well, unlike now. Add in that they kept releasing different versions of the same thing, slim, arcade, etc. It got complicated for those who didn't know about them.

I have a hard time believing that won't continue when the consoles look vastly different, cost vastly different, etc. How many will come in for the new Xbox, see it's $500, and not pursue the cheaper option and just walk to the toy isle to find something else to buy their kid? S will need to be marketed heavily as an option to X, else it'll be perceived as something different. You lose that premium feel too, which will cause few to ask for the S. Hell, kids get picked on at school for not having the newest skins in Fortnite. You wanna be that pleb with the S and not the X? Same way stupid brands get so sought after like Supreme.

I have never had an issue with this, though I read gaming news every day.

However when a parent goes to a store and asks the clerk for the "new xbox" the clerk in the store/dept (and lets be honest, other than gamestop, best buy, target, etc are people going to other stores to get consoles?) the clerk will know what the new console is the vast majority of the time.

The way I remember it is the X line is the premier system. You know, to go along with the X in the console name. Anything else is the more "inferior" version. *shrug*

I don't think it's the best naming idea. Wii > Wii U was equally stupid. Nintendo blames themselves for the name I think, but I blame the console for being shit.

Apple amended its App Store ToS to apply that to any game streaming service. Every item in the catalog has to be submitted as its own app. Which is hysterical.

Tried it with elite v2 controller, and it actually works! Tried it with mortal kombat x and its doable but I notice the smallest of lag thats just not okay for serious fight game usage, but I also played dungeon of the endless and I couldn't notice a difference.

I'm sure it'll only get better with time, but basically as a free addition to my subscription I mean why the hell not. Its pretty cool!
