Hearing that the Habs first discussed the offer sheet scenario involving Brayden Point but then shifted gears to Sebastian Aho after thinking they'd have a better chance to get the player. Both Point and Aho are represented by agent Gerry Johansson.
I don't remember him playing much on the PK last year, but he's definitely one of those guys that will use his body to block a shot and he's more then willing to throw down to stand up for his teammates. He may not produce a ton but I think you'll like him off his compete level alone

Waddell on offer sheet: "It's certainly a surprise, it's a surprise it wasn't more. Literally we got the email at 2:40 today so all people are not fully aware yet."
(thats the CAR GM)
If the Canes don't match, they should just blow up the team and the Owner should sell. idgaf what the signing bonus is, Aho is a 21yo star and face of the franchise, match it. You just made the playoffs and hyped your fans up all last year, if you don't match you just told them you don't give a fuck cause money is more important.
Does anyone think Dundon, worth 1.1b dollars, doesn't have a spare 21m in his couch to save the franchise he just bought?
Can someone explain to Judai what "net worth" means?
hint: he doesnt have 1.1 billion dollars sitting in his bank account.
Canes owner is also kind of fucked as he invested hard in the AAF and that didn't even make it through its entire season
At the same time, habs are semi stuck as they cannot make other offers.
So if canes have the money they will probably wait at the last minute to shit on the habs
Dale Waddell's press conference, he seemed kinda dejected about the whole thing.
He also said theyre in no rush to make a decision.
Also, theres this tidbit on signing bonuses vs salary. I know theres paywall there, but in short: salary is taxed at 53% and signing bonus is taxed at 15% as it is "considered a pledge to enter into a contract".
