Soooooo did you take a vow over 2 yrs ago to never post on BG unless Lucic is traded away??
This might be my favourite trade ever because of the restrictions on the draft pick.

/sigh
I figured it'd be something stupid like that
haha what's up guys? I pulled a Lucic and didn't do anything for a couple years. Only I didn't get 6m per year doing so
Maybe the change of scenery will help both players out. I know I didn't think that a deal like that would ever happen. Especially after the Leafs had to sweeten a year of Marleau with a 1st rounder. Right there I was like "Welp, that sets the price of trading Lucic as including McDavid and every draft pick period until 2074."
Am I expecting some crazy rebound season from Neal? Not overly, I've learned to tame any kind of expectations after only one summer of Holland (that could be any name there honestly) inheriting that wonderful Chia mess. For all I know, come next summer when he has 2 quarters to rub together and spend, he'll pull another Abdelkader type signing, so there's that fear.
Lost in all the "OMG THEY'RE WASTING ANOTHER YEAR OF CONNOR!" stuff, is now Nuge will be on his 7th head coach in the NHL in 9 seasons. >.<
See you suckers in 2021!
Also, with the Trouba signing, the Rangers joined Vegas as the only teams currently over the salary cap (10% leniency in the off-season)
Rangers in 2018: were rebuilding
Rangers in 2019: we need to trade shit away cause were over the cap
Doesnt that include Callahan though?
Nope

Top 5 (paid) defense are all over 4.3mil
Lmao im an idiot
Callahan is with Tampa
Theres 25 on that “roster” though, limit is 23. Two players gonna get sent down.
edit: Since I'm not at the gym and can look closer, 3 of those 25 players are unsigned. OH NO BABY WHAT IS YOU DOIN
Seems like Calgary is getting a new $550m stadium, 50/50 split between the Flames and the City on cost.

Still scratching my head over the Neal / Lucic trade. Makes no sense to me from CGY's perspective; Lucic is a corsi black hole at this point.
So the Leafs got Clarkson's contract back. They are now 700k over the cap, with 10.5 mil going to LTIR, and Marner is still unsigned. However, and please correct me if I'm wrong, teams have to be cap compliant when the season starts, and they cant move players to LTIR until after the season starts. If the plan is a handshake agreement for Marner to sign after the season starts, he wouldnt be allowed to partake in the training camps since he's not signed, correct?
I believe the LTIR happens before they have to be cap compliant. It happens during training camp I believe. Theres a whole FAQ which includes the crazy formulas the league apparently uses found here: https://www.capfriendly.com/ltir-faq
So I think even with the LTIR contracts they'll be able to sign Marner
I can just see Phil sitting alone in that room, watching his favorite movies with his giant bowl of hot dogs. Poor sad and lonely Phil.
