Her skin tone is not important in any way so it doesnt matter if it gets changed. If that matters to you, then boy is that really telling about yourself.

How many times do I have to say that any change would be wrong in my eyes? If it was the hair I'd be just as pissed, it just happens that skin is the only announced change here so far. The only thing it's telling me is that I loved the original character and that was the one I wanted to see in this movie. Do you follow these steps?

Simba's design wasn't changed in his "live action", he simply looks more realistic. The skin of his voice actor had nothing to do with it, it's a stupid comparison to make. Ariel's look wasn't preserved, that's the difference. (I couldn't give two shits about teen Titans, I didn't even know that was a thing. Why would I have an opinion on stuff I'm not invested in?)

As for the other jokes I'm not gonna comment any further, it's not worth it when all you guys do is take things out of context just to ridicule me. It's obvious you don't know what true racism is or even discrimination in general.

The problem is that not a single person I can see said this Ariel was "better" and you made that the focus of your argument. If you're mad at the changes to appearance, get in line with every nerd who ever went to a comic book movie, but you made a huge deal out of something no one was saying.

seriously tho not a single one of the adult Lannisters are golden blonde and it's the defining physical trait of their entire family, to such an extent it plays an important plot role, far more intrinsic to their identity than the skin color of a mythical sea creature.

Those are "minor changes" whereas skin color is a "major change." And yet, they can't seem to fathom that the reason for this importance is rooted in racism to believe that skin color marks and important difference in a character.

This may be true, but it doesn't mean its racism. Unless we're using the watered down "racism" ya'll today love to toss out. In this specific instance, an instance closely related to childhood memories, its perfectly reasonable to assume people just have an attachment to the childhood Ariel they know, and prefer.

Now, this doesn't apply to all complainers, obviously.

(And I feel the need to once again point out - I'm okay with this change and have not once complained about her skin color)

i concur that it's not necessarily inherently racism, but people that find skin color a more intrinsic aspect of identity than literally any other physical marker (and often mental markers as characterization can change quite drastically in adaptations) should prolly do some soul-searching.

I figure just REALLY stopping and asking yourself why this matters is a good start and introspective we all need to do sometimes not even just on topics like this, I'd only ask if they come up with "not racism" we can accept their answer or at least consider it as a possibility.
