1 confirmed death in the Bahamas so far. a 7 y/o drowned and his sister is missing. Many others also reported missing.

Bahamas officials say they are getting too many calls for help and can't get to/help everyone. People are/were being advised to find flotation devices and in some cases, break through their roofs if they went to their attics

Disney World is closing at 3pm tomorrow so they are expecting some heavy wind/rain late Tuesday into Wednesday it looks like. That is if Dorian ever decides it wants to leave the Bahamas.

Officials said they received a "tremendous" number of calls from people in flooded homes. A radio station received more than 2,000 distress messages, including reports of a 5-month-old baby stranded on a roof and a grandmother with six grandchildren who cut a hole in a roof to escape rising floodwaters. Other reports involved a group of eight children and five adults stranded on a highway and two storm shelters that flooded.

Dorian has now weakened to a cat 2, after spending almost 48 hours wrecking the Bahamas before moving on.

And there is now a system developing off the African coast to keep an eye on in the coming days.

Weather service reporting that Dorian is regaining size and speed as it moves back over water toward the U.S. coast.

It's 5mph weaker than it was earlier. I haven't seen anything saying it's going to get stronger at this point.

Hurricanes don't generally strengthen as they approach land. If it's no longer stationary it might be time to pivot and weaken just a bit as it does so.

This one apparently does. Dropped to Category 2, now approaching the Carolinas at Cat 3.
