the thing is he can't really do that with the cowboys having his rights for 2 years, it's different than le'veons hold out. if he sits for an entire year, whats that do for him? he's still under contract with the cowboys for another year after missing a year and still really cheap so the cap isn't put in danger. it would actually be beneficial to the cowboys to hold on to him for 2 more years just so he doesn't go to another playoff team. it doesn't cost you squat relatively

i wouldn't be shocked if he missed a few games, but he simply can't sit for a full year. it doesn't help him 'cause he'll find himself in the exact same situation next year minus all of his money

isn’t there something like what happened with bell last year where he could skip like the first 12 games but then play the last 4 and still count towards free agency? don’t remember the exact numbers but i remember bell could come back and still have it count towards a year in the league

that was bells last year of his contract (franchise tagged). zeke is signed for 2 more full years under his current contract. its totally different. if stephen jones really wanted to he could make zeke eat 2 years of camp fines, practices fines, and game fines. its a shit ton of money. probably more money then he has tbh

My understanding is that it’s Zeke’s best time to hold out now for a contract. It’s relatively cheap to try and do so now versus next year where he gets his 5th year option which pays substantially more.

He’s playing a game of chicken with Jones for this particular season. Jones is probably gonna call his bluff since he signed Alf Morris for one year. Zeke will end up looking like a dumbass and come groveling back lol.

Bell’s situation was some weird deadline that he had to report to the team if he wanted to play at all for that season. Which of course it didn’t matter because he was going to be a free agent anyways like Rhyis said.

yeah he's 3.9m this year and 9.1m next year.

what i'm saying is that if i'm the cowboys if zeke fucks me this year, why wouldn't i just fuck zeke right back next year? they have that power and the damage to them would already done. next year doesn't hurt them at all but it sure as shit hurts zeke. its 13m, plus whatever, over two years.

i think this is the potential problem of 2+ year contract hold outs. at some point a team is just gonna play hardball and the team wins on that one if it's a guy on a rookie contract. its different if it's a big contract guy and it hurts your cap, but rookies will eventually lose that game of chicken 'cause your option year is your biggest financial year

Yeah I think it’s dumb as hell to try a 2+ year hold out on a rookie deal when it’s comparatively cheap on the cap space. Even dumber when the GM is the fucking owner of the team who answers to no one lol.

Apparently Antonio Brown got frostbite on his foot/feet(?) from a botched cryotherapy session. Leave it to this nigga to get frostbite in Oakland in the middle of August lol.

/r/nfl was having a field day over that exact sentiment. God I can't wait for the shit show this regular season is. Really wish my dad didn't give up his season tickets so I could see the world burn live.

Reminder tonight is the snoopy bowl and chargers vs cardinals. Should be fun background noise.
