NOLA was great. I had a few days there before the game where we got to eat some local food and take some tours. We stayed in the french quarter. I think my favorite part was the Mardi Gras warehouse tour. Obviously Mardi Gras is huge, but I didn't realize just how massive, and numerous, all the parades are.

Each parade is required to have a minimum of 16 floats (with a max of 32.... but they sometimes hitch 2 or more floats together to count as "1" each) and a minimum of 9 bands. Just... damn.

edit: and there are like 50 parades in the 2 weeks leading up to the day of Mardi Gras itself. Many run back-to-back-to-back the weekend right before.

Yeah it's mostly a shitshow during Mardi gras and probably my least favorite time to be there lol

Fun the first time or two, after that just an overcrowded mess. Good if you're into binge drinking tho

My only concern is that his thinking is too old school but Coach O has a strong hiring record so far

Timing is most curious, but it could be related to the court battle that sounds like it may be heating up over NCAA recruiting violations.

I would have liked to see him get 1-2 more years under the condition he revamp his coaching staff. The guy is loyal to a fault, but somethings been missing since 2015 and recruiting is a big part of that. Mike Tressel is interim HC, but I wouldn't be surprised to see Pat Narduzzi hired by early Summer.

Mel Tucker hired as Spartans new HC.

Great hire. Better recruiter. Smart defensive mind with a Big 10 and SEC pedigree.

SEC remains king. 1st round picks by conference:

    SEC – 15
    ACC – 3
    Big Ten – 5
    Pac-12 – 3
    Big 12 – 5
    Mountain West – 1

Believe 15 in the first from one conference is the new record too, it was 12 previously

That is correct. Absolute domination by the SEC.

Still don't know why Fromm thought it was a good idea to leave early. Looking at mid to late 3rd round at best.

Id like his chances then up against Sunshine instead of Burrow and Tua.

I just don't think it's worth the money after a regressive junior season to jump early and end up 3rd round or later unless you're only expecting 3-4 years as a backup and then selling insurance or whatever David Greene does now. Fromm is better than that imho. Eason may go before him.

I'm curious what the breakdown of those picks would be if done by what high school the person came from. A lot of recruits are choosing certain schools, therefore popularity and recency bias will continue to make certain SEC schools magnets for recruits. It's not like most of these people wouldn't have done well in another conference.

SEC has the best stadiums, training facilities, workout programs, etc. The average isn't even comparable. And I don't buy the recency bias, as the SEC has been dominating for a long time. They won/appeared in some absurd number of BCS title games, from the start.

Football is more popular in the south, I think it's that simple. More players = more talent and a higher overall level of play
