While outtakes and blooper reals are funny to watch the sean yelling that shit about gohan is kinda ehhhhhh. The incest chichi is definitely them messing around reading a doujin whenever these were taken.

It's all funny as shit but it seems in context, funimation just dropped the hammer on a guy for some sexual harassment stuff, and now this comes up with Goku calling gohan a faggot and well it's not a good look so yeahhhh

When did it happen though? There's a difference between sexually harassing people and saying F***** as a joke over a decade ago. Its not cool, but there's still a huge difference. And honestly that was the only bad one. The rest were w/e

Think I read on Twitter was that these were done like 16 years ago. So, different times and them fucking around with the roles, sure. A lot of the outrage is just Vic stans thinking this somehow absolves him of being a predator.

Apparently, Chuck Hubert just released a huge affidavit in regards to the AnimeGate thing, and said some preeetty damning things about Sabat.

This shit is happening because of the lawsuit Vic Mignogna opened up against Funimation and the DBZ voice actors. The guy who opened up his gofundme to support his lawsuit against various DBZ voice actors and funimation, Rekieta Law, leaked this shit out on his youtube.

I don't think any heads are going to roll over at funimation but I do imagine a good number of people are going to end up getting some training because of that shit.

He also accused Funimation of having a terrible work enviroment because they worked on Panty and Stocking and said Vic wasn't a public figure because some dog on twitter has more followers.

Anyway this is a good long informed read on the whole situation with Vic that goes back years if you've been completely in the dark.

So I have been watching this with interest, due to my personal history.

Back in ye olde days of anime not being mainstream, I would go to conventions and I was part of a group of Fullmetal Alchemist obsessers (this was around the time the dub started airing on Adult Swim, and Vic Mignogna voiced Edward). Due to the community being so small at the time, we actually had a semi-private AOL chatroom where some of the voice actors and staff of the show would come chat with us. Vic was often in there just shooting the shit with us. I can't recall being shocked or scandalized by anything he said.

I did a few meetups at cons, sitting at the same table as Vic and co. at opening ceremony for example, and they were always really pleasant and understanding towards their cracked out hyper adolescent fanbase. Most of us must have been in the 13-17 years old age range. I never felt uncomfortable around any of the voice actors and never felt like they made a pass at me or anyone I knew.

Even back then, these whispers of Vic having inappropriate relationships with fans were circulating, though. Whether they are true or not I was never able to ascertain even with all the people I knew who were constantly following him and other voice actors around at cons and whatnot, but I did have a vague idea that maybe there was some shady shit going on. Keyword being maybe. I would consider myself a confidant to a lot of the fangirls I was involved with back then, but I never saw any concrete proof or even an allegation. Considering how mega popular among drama-prone adolescent girls Vic was at the time, I would not be surprised if some stories about his behavior at conventions are just that, stories. Then again, they could be true...who knows. All I know is that I never got that impression from him.

He did talk about his faith a lot at cons, and did encourage fans to participate in it on occasion, but being a proselytizer isn't illegal. Anyway I stopped paying attention to the dub scene a couple years afterward since the culture around it started changing so I couldn't speak to his behavior after he became a "mega star" in the anime world. I have heard shit like he let the fame go to his head and his interactions with fans changed and stuff, which could be true.

It doesn't surprise me at all that Funi is full of raunchy, catty behavior. Not one bit. Anyone who ever visited a late-night voice actor panel (especially in the early days when no one but teenagers actually gave a shit about anime voice actors and their behavior) would know about the raunchy bit. And the fact that the VAs were constantly rubbing shoulders with underage fans but didn't particularly care what they said in front of them. As for catty, I did always get that impression. When you work in an industry as small and insular as the American anime voice acting industry, there is going to be a lot of cliqueyness and drama, unavoidably. I just hope Vic actually deserves all that backbiting that was allegedly taking place, otherwise I feel pretty bad for him.

TBH, I still find it odd how this all picked up steam after Dragon Ball Super: Broly became one of the most profitable anime films in America.

Do I think Vic is hella weird/creeperish? I kinda do, yeah. He does give off that vibe, even in just..videos of him at cons, but do I think he's a homophobic (bc he wouldn't sign some yaoi comics apparently) rapist or w/e? I don't, no. I don't think what they're doing to him is deserved at all. That's the problem overall with the cancel culture, because once the steamroller gets rolling, sadly, it's hard to stop, even if sometime down the line, things are proven false. It's too late by that point because a person's career in the public eye is already ruined.

I just hope things get worked out, and those who accused (if proven to be liars) get theirs. The Ron Toye/Marchi/Rial squad are the three main people that I think need to have something come back at them, though, for sure. Sabat too. Sabat's a fucking creep.

Sean Schemmel.. I could care less about. He's just dumb.

If things come to light, and Vic did actually do any of the things people say he did, then he'll have received his punishment, but if this is all stemming from any sort of jealousy in the biz, which I know certainly exists.. then it's just sad af.

I believe victims of sexual assault, assault in general, harassment.. should all be listened to, but the culture of just "Okay let's believe 100% everything we always hear no matter what" -- it can get people in a lot of trouble.

Putting aside the "apology letter" Vic shortly released after this picked up basically admitting he was too much of a touchy feel christian and that's his story, this also hasn't just been Marchi and Rial running solely off their own personal accounts. Funimation did their homework and there was a fair bit of evidence/testimony that fueled their release of him and eventually went into various proceedings a few months back. There was someone on twitter who had been tracking all the publicly available info, some with legit legal backgrounds, that people affectionately came to call "The Threadnaught", but the Vic stans seemingly succeeded in getting the account (temporarily?) banned, so it's not something I can link to atm.

I wanted to be skeptical, too, but as more and more info kept coming in those post-January weeks, I eventually found myself leaning into the camp that believes he did do some shady shit. Eventually started seeing a cosplayer that goes by Dominique Skye getting involved. Was a story that circulated around before Vic got into dubbing where he worked for a school/church group and had lured a girl back to his place alone, took off his shirt, and started making advances before his housemate got back and basically saved her ass by chance. Some women in more behind-the-scenes positions as Funi popped in some of the evidence. Tales of Haberkorn and Vic trying to get under-21 con-goers drunk to bang them surfaced, too. Which probably contributed to Todd's divorce back in the day, too.

I know we have some in poopdeck ree'ing about cancel culture or totally missing the fucking point about #MeToo, but this has simply been a lot more than some random shithead trying to smear a guy. End of the day, there is also technically nothing stopping Vic from establishing his own dubbing company to compete with Funimation after this should he be so inclined, where those who do believe he did nothing wrong can work with him. However, it's also a safe bet he'll not be freelanced by Viz, Sentai, or other studios for major roles because the industry is fairly insular and still pretty small in the grand scheme compared to other media. Maybe in a few years when he's less nuclear he'd have a better chance, but a lot of people won't forget. On the other hand, you could also look to other long-time VO males like Crispin Freeman, Richard Epcar, Kirk Thorton, J. Michael Tatum, or basically anyone who's worked the biz a while having none of this shit haunting them. So, is Vic's case a fluke, or is there actually something to it all?

Kind of depends on where you get your information from... and well from the way you write this it sounds like you primarily get it from one side. I bet if you looked at the other side you'd see most the claims being debunked or denied by the people in question. But luckily there is a court case and there are tons of people covering it as it's gained a bit of steam even outside the community including ones with legal backgrounds pretty easy to go thru and see the official court documents at decide for yourself from the actual evidence (or lack thereof as last I saw of court documents was pretty thin) instead of random social media posts or blogs or hit pieces or youtube etc.
