I never got banned off the entire forum but I was frequently kicked off threads arguing about Kings vs. post-Abyssea content. Their mods definitely had no qualms about using shadow-bans to end debates in the way they wanted.

The only ban I ever felt bad about was me being banned from the official forums. I still felt it was a bogus ass excuse and I could have fought it but I decided I didn't like it there enough to make the effort.

About Sandworm & Dark Ixion: I was the person responsible for getting the god damn GMs to change their policy about non-interference. When our shell was camping Sandworm, I got claim on PLD and just did melee hits on while holding it waiting for the rest of my linkshell to show up. During the fight, a GM showed up and spoke in our party chat which obviously surprised me they could do that and told me that I had to damage the mob or I would be fucking jailed.

I told the GM to fucking look at me hitting it & explained to him that this mob had a damn rage timer with which he told me to hurry up and damage it. Thankfully the rest of my Linkshell arrived and we finished it up. I was pretty fucking pissed about that whole exchange so I contacted a GM and got the same one who spoke to me before and explained to him that he needed to understand what a rage timer was and why he shouldn't have interfered.

He was pretty dismissive or just plain didn't give a shit so I asked to speak to an SGM and finally got one. I explained to him what happened and why this other GM should have just minded his own god damn business. The SGM said he'd look into it and I thanked him and left it at that. About two weeks later there was an update note stating that along with Kings, Khim, etc that Sandworm and Dark Ixion were now on the list of mobs that GMs would not interfere with.

My LS leaders back in the day stole the LS bank and RMT their characters and at the time I felt really hurt by it but looking back I was just being dumb because they really needed the money for irl shit and at the end of the day it’s all just pixels on a server. Later ffxi would go easy mode and they remade characters again and got decked out in the coolest shit in like 1/256th the time it used to take and I then felt really silly for any bad feelings I harbored over their actions years prior.

About 15 minutes later it was at 50% and then all the PLD, WHM and RDM were transported to Mordion Goal and the rest of the ally was left to wipe. The LS that called the GM on us was able to scoop up a Cerberus at 50%. I was mad at the time but damn did we laugh our asses off looking back at that situation just absolutely bewildered at how poorly it was handled. Like what in the world was that guy doing lol?

Dillinja on Shiva was always my favorite example of a failure of an LS leader on ffxi. Preached anti bot and anti rmt for years, bot list came out and surprise surprise he was on it. Year or two later he sold his account, stole his LS bank, and then bragged in ventrillo a year after the sale about recalling it. I can understand being against RMT but selling your account and then recalling it is literal theft.

Think he still posts here sometimes. It's surprising people from those days with such a holier than thou attitude still have the audacity to not just disappear into obscurity

This is no different than the poor person who steals to feed their family. You can have sympathy for their plight without approving of them screwing other people over. Most people would be moved to have more compassion if they stole from say, Wal-Mart, over the Mom & Pop bakery they work at, but stealing from your members is clearly more akin to the latter. People put in their collective time and effort because there is supposed to be a shared reward.

When SE ruined the game with Abyssea it may have made the impact of their theft non-unique, but it doesn't make it okay. That's like saying murdering a man is fine if you know for a fact that he and the rest of his family is going to die in a gas explosion at their house later that night.

On modern day ffxi there is not much room for profit. Gil sales have declined very rapidly due to decreasing demand and increasing supply. But yeah

That's also because most BiS items are not crafted, but are rare/ex drops. Back in the day things like cursed-1 gear, juggernaut, KC, scorp harness, sniper rings were veritable gold mines. There are still really potent crafted items out there but like nothing that's gonna make a huge difference. Abyssea/Voidwatch/Neo Nyzul era really obliterated the market for crafters because literally all the BiS gear was rare/ex. You can't do as much with gil now as you could back then, when very few weapons could compare to a R/E/M, but now a days theres a bunch of weapons that are equal or better than ultimate weapons that don't require fucktons of gil.

A major part of why it all stopped was because GM's were being called literally every time a LS claimed... anything. I know basically every HNMLS on Seraph would immediately submit a GM ticket as soon as DI, SW, Khim, Cerb, Tia, etc. etc. etc spawned just to begin a holding complaint as soon as possible to get that clock ticking while the rest of their linkshell gathered.

If you're able to remove your emotions from me calling the dying game you like garbage, you'll see that there's nothing objectively wrong with what I'm saying. I also did not bring up ffxiah database numbers initially, but I gladly continued to bring them up as they are largely skewed up the login campaigns. I do like the fact that checking them for all of 5 seconds of my day every 3 or 4 days is seen as something requiring mental attention tho.

I'd say the extreme desire to White Knight SE and ffxi is more worrying than anything I've posted. The game literally does not have a full time employee and y'all sit here praising it as being gods second coming when it has less people playing it than a middle school dance on a weekday.
