I feel like guildwork wasnt a bad idea but it was centered around 2 dead games with the highest ratio of assburger playerbase, 0 public feed moderation, and people like kipling it had no chance :^)
Ehhh... "It's a Facebook, but for gamers!" shows a pretty serious misunderstanding of both network effects and context.
a bit reductive
I liked most of the features- the gear feed, linkshell management stuff, the communication in and out of game
and the plugin was nice being able to query the AH in game away from the AH
The XIV features were a god send back in the day. Now the only feature I miss is the cross-zone shouting.
i think the features behind guildwork were something that could have been made worthwhile.
back when the game was relevant the drops feature or people obtaining gear showing up in their feed was an interesting concept on it's own. wouldn't have worked in any game except FFXI. i mean here on BG we had drops threads that were insanely active due to the exclusivity of items. obviously that changed as SE made things less exclusive so it wouldn't have passed the test of time and as someone already said ffxi is a dying game which is probably why stan sold the project to a lazy dude and abandoned ship. i'd say he made the right decision
Guildwork was a trip dude. I'm still sad it's gone sometimes.
Favorite moment is when we hijacked some dude's podcast document and just shit everywhere. I still have that image. Guildwork presents Babby's First Podcast.
Not true at all, there are still tons of sales of gil, items, in-game carries, full clears/upgrades, etc. You can still easily make 5-6 figures selling things on FFXI if you do it properly and have the setup for it.
He passed Guildwork off to someone to focus on Discord. That person landed up working for Discord as well and it got handed off again to Rooks now.
Gil dropped to the lowest I see at .33 per mil down from a dollar this time last year. You can still do 5 figures easy, but moving 300 billion to hit 6 figures would be impressive.
It's not possible. There isn't enough demand even if you got every buyer, which is what I said a few pages back. it was possible in 2017 and probably 2018. 2019 no
Not really the place for such a discussion tho
You can deny it happens or claim it's not possible, doesn't stop the fact that it is happening and is totally possible still. Like I said earlier, Gil is not the only thing sold, but it definitely does still get sold and moved. I watch it daily as I run a site that has a marketplace for it.
Something I'm going to assume as well is you have a single-server mindset meaning that you only think about the economy of your own server and trying to sell to people on your own server. Sellers transfer characters weekly to cover every single server for every single purpose. They collect enough buyers to offset the transfer cost and make profit, then schedule times to deal with all their buyers for each thing. People are running 70-100 account setups doing this, making massive money. And it's not just a few people doing it. FFXI's current end game has a lot more market for sellable things now than it did in the HNM days.
Nah, I have about 30x the knowledge in the space as anyone you're getting information from. Pointless debate and still not the right place for it though.
I lol'd.
I'm not sure what you think atom0s does but he doesn't rmt unless it's a recent development, and his knowledge isn't first hand and I know who he's getting it from.
That being said it takes about 11 seconds to Google and find that Gil price and demand has tanked about 70% in the last year and it was already at an all time low prior to that.
Also no idea what "site" he's talking about and if I've never heard of it it's likely peanuts.
how is this thread still going on
I'll save everyone a lot of time: the answer is no
