Weekly Update:
https://www.bungie.net/en/Explore/Detail/News/48686
Empyrean Foundation starts next week:
It's a community event, so here are the current requirements (I imagine the later ones are ambiguous so they can adjust and keep people donating throughout the rest of the season):Players will need to come together and contribute resources towards a common goal. To participate, players can donate their Fractaline using the Tower Obelisk. The event will have seven stages, each requiring increasing amounts of Fractaline to progress through. There will also be a hologram at the Tower Obelisk where you’ll be able to track the community’s progress in game.
Contributing to the Empyrean Foundation costs 100 Polarized Fractaline.
Contributing generates a 25% flat progression for all Timelost weapon bounties in your inventory.
Your Tower Obelisk will generate Polarized Fractaline for you each week equivalent to its Resonance Power.
Increase its Resonance Power by upgrading other Obelisks
Players who donate more than 5,000 Polarized Fractaline before the end of the Season will earn a Triumph and emblem.
And that's pretty much it.Stage 1: 400,000,000
Stage 2: 700,000,000
Stage 3: 1,200,000,000
Stage 4: ???
Stage 5: ???
Stage 6: ???
Stage 7: ???
Finally something to do with our tens of thousands of fractaline.
"Contributing generates a 25% flat progression for all Timelost weapon bounties in your inventory."
THAT. IS. NICE.
UGH. Took me a full year of doing Nightfalls and Raids and everything. It dropped the week before Xur sold it for the second time.
Bought it from Xur the first time he sold it and didn't get a second one until the second time he sold it.
IDR when I finally got a Ghorn, but I had one. All that video did was remind me how much I enjoyed D1's approach to loot more. The rarity of Exotics made them feel damn special. I guess I also enjoyed the Decrypting process more, now that Rahool only exists for Prime Engrams and has a pathetic loot pool... meh, no use worrying about the past.
Exotics are just another example of Bungie caving to community complaints. Exotics were too rare in D1, so they made it so they could drop anywhere during vanilla D2. But then they were too common and people missed the 'Gjallarhorn moments,' so they made them rare in Y2. But then they were too rare again, so you either get exotics from the system that guarantees exotics you don't have, or they come from guaranteed sources.
And while I'm normally happy to put the blame on the community, this is definitely a case where Bungie needs to make a decision and stick with it.
I think the weekly nightfalls in D1 were some of my favorite activities because of the exotic chances. They were also challenging lol, I remember spending a lot of time hiding from certain bosses... like that Archon priest.
Idea, and let me know what you all think, what if the Exotic Engram from Xur and Season Pass could not give Exotics you didn't have but could ONLY give armor you already have (for stat rolling purposes), and let Exotic Drops only drop from Pinnacle Activities at a low rate?
Would be far too limiting for most of the PvE playerbase and the PvP playerbase would never get exotics. If exotics are too common rn just make them rarer from anything that isn't a master level activity. That said the only reason I have a full collection of exotics is due to Xur giving out a free guaranteed new exotic every week so mix in your idea of having him only give pieces of armor that you've seen already and maybe we have something (while simultaneously making Xur worth visiting for people with all of the exotics).
Compared to d1 exotics are just gold legendaries.
