Last yr from start of season to Jan 5 (41 games for Edmonton)
The oilers had 41 points
McDavid played 22:45/GP putting 61 pts in 40 games
Draisaitl played 21:44/GP putting 51 pts in 41 games
From Jan 7 to end of season
The Oilers had 38 points (not much of a loss, but P% went down)
McDavid played 22:55/GP putting 55 pts in 38 games
Draisaitl played 23:21/GP putting 54 pts in 41 games.
More importantly though, which has been my talking point every time I mention it: can they play those kind of minutes and be useful in April? The only time the Oil made the playoffs, in 2017, here are those same numbers:
From start to Jan 7 (41 games)
The Oilers had 49 points
McDavid played 21:14/GP putting 46 pts in 41 games
Draisaitl played 18:16/GP putting 34 pts in 41 games
From Jan 8 to end of season
The Oilers had 54 points
McDavid played 21:02/GP putting 54 pts in 41 games
Draisaitl played 19:30/GP putting 43 pts in 41 games
Playoffs (13 GP)
McDavid played 22:25/GP putting 9 pts in 13 games
Draisaitl played 19:32/GP putting 16 pts in 13 games
Was McDavid checked harder playing playoff teams, or did he start to run out of gas?
Of the 10 TOI/GP leaders last year among forwards:
McDavid didnt make the playoffs
Draisaitl didnt make the playoffs
P.Kane didnt make the playoffs
Barkov didnt make the playoffs
Kopitar didnt make the playoffs
Couturier didnt make the playoffs
MacKinnon did make the playoffs, he played 22:05/GP. He posted a 1.21 P/GP in the regular season. His playoff numbers were 23:43/GP and 1.08 P/GP (5GP 8P vs Flames, 7GP 5P vs Sharks)
Scheifle did make the playoffs, he played 21:52/GP. He posted a 1.02 P/GP in the regular season. His playoff numbers were 20:47/GP and 0.83 P/GP
Larkin didnt make the playoffs
Giroux didnt make the playoffs
Also, I just want to point out that the last time I brought this up, and it was early in the year (5GP in), here were the numbers
Drai is down to 22:44
McDavid is around the same (22:12)
Nuge is down to 19:18
My point is, can those guys maintain that ridiculously high ATOI as well as production into April and May?
Hathaway said he was suspended 3 games for spitting because of "intent to injure"
Ducks pull a Boston and give up a 4 goal lead to the Panthers and lose in OT. Worst team in the league at 3 on 3. Gibson let's in a softy late in the 2nd and snowballed from there. Ekblad with a great shot to win the game.
Rask vs Fleury

What was the score and situation of the Rask one?
Up 3-1 with Sabres on the PP, Rask lost his stick prior.

I'd say Rask's save was nicer, but Fleury's was a game breaker based on the time left (and you know, it got Babcock fired).
Also, lmao at this dudes tweets.

Fleury so kind of went airborn to snag his. I hate Vegas but I think he had the better save.

As hilariously soul crushing as Fleury's was, think I gotta give it to Rask because barehanded with the blocker hand is way harder than the giant catcher's mitt.
Leafs can't hang on 30 more seconds to get Freddy the shutout, but a pretty solid game and a nice debut win for Chief Keefe. And obviously Tyson Barrie scored the opening goal of the game.
Hey guys. Just checkin in. Buffalo sucks again.
Later.
3 point game but solid win by the shakes despite getting out shot. Dell with by far his best game of the year, and after a really shitty start, only three points out of the wild card.
