The new arena was okay'd a while ago. The vote just made it official. Not a great look for the city, $290mil towards helping a bunch of billionaires make more money, while vital public services get big cuts throughout the city. Nenshi's argument was "the arena funds and the public service fund were already separate in the last budget" and blah blah, but this is in all likelihood his last term as mayor of the city so he probably doesn't give too much of a fuck about his public image and is more invested in his future endeavors.

Buuuuuuuut losing half a billion in funds from the province for the new LRT and cuts across the board for the public sector that benefit the entire population while giving the rich tax cuts and exemptions while constantly only relying on Oil and Gas while not diversifying their economy at all and making any effort what so ever in trying to progress the province forward are what the stupid fucking people in Alberta voted for and I live in Vancouver so ¯\_(ツ)_/¯
