even if luka becomes the face of the nba for the next 10 years, i can still kinda get behind the ayton pick.

like, luka is amazing, i get it, he could reel off 5 triple double seasons in a row in his prime. but if ayton is a legit 2-way player then that's more than enough to justify him as the #1 pick. bigs who have the potential to be mobile p/r defenders are so hard to find.

Yeah y'all are tripping on thinking Ayton could be a great two way player. He's young and could obviously improve, but his defensive skills and instincts were a huge question mark going into the draft.

The Suns defense has improved notably this year (even Booker is playing acceptable D) under Monty, so maybe Ayton will be alright going forward, but I wouldn't bet on it.

Gonna say tho, the Suns still need to figure some stuff out on D going forward. When I went to the game last week the Lakers just kept switching Bron onto Oubre and Bron would bully the shit out of him. If that's a potential playoff matchup this year the Suns can't rely on hitting 50% of their 3s to keep the game tight.

He's big, long, strong, and agile. He objectively "could" be dominant on defense, which is what we said. No one said he would be or even that he is likely to be. "Could" is how his ceiling is determined, even if it's only a 5% chance.
