don’t know who else is eligible/getting in this year but gl with them speeches
Retired the same year Tim Duncan and Kevin Garnett did (2016) who are also in the HOF this year, so makes sense. He was announced as one of the nominees back in December too.
i mean he (and Duncan) were easy, obvious, unanimous first ballot picks anyways. you ain't fucking around with dudes with 5 rings and MVPs and multiple Finals MVPs and a million all-NBA / all-defense / all-star accolades.
Yeah it's not really surprising. Them "breaking tradition" is just announcing it early and foregoing the "will they, won't they???" leadup that was pretty pointless anyway
It seems pointless to skip the normal process just because he died. He would've been first ballot anyway... what is the point of breaking precedent
It would make more sense if he was terminally ill and they wanted to induct him before he died

aint nobody gonna be mad kobe makes the hof after an early passing. i dunno what yall are arguing about
Yeah this is stupid as fuck, lots of grasping in here.
Basketball is a young sport, most of the greats are still alive. One of the first greats to die did this weekend at a young age with his daughter and several other people/friends in a tragic way. The first thought on people's minds shouldn't be the negatives.
Some stuff might be too much or overdone but most of it isn't.
If some self-righteous idiot didnt vote "no" to Jeter, does the NBA HOF still go this route?
I mean Kobe was guaranteed to get in no matter what so it just seems kind of pointless to speed up a foregone conclusion.
Like I said in an earlier post, he was already announced as a nominee back in December.
Also Embiid hit a fadeaway for his 24th point and yelled "Kobe!" Lol

Shaq talks about how he found out about the accident
That whole Inside the NBA was really intense last night..
I'm worried about Shaq. Dude keeps repeating how he hasn't slept since he lost his sister and Kobe is hitting him really hard, then he says the last time they talked was his last game? Holy shit dudes gotta have some immense regret about that.
I think they were honest when they said the beef was dead and that they both regretted how their time together in LA came to a close. Kobe was desperate to get out of Shaq's shadow and prove he could be the man and win without Shaq, but later on I think he realized he could have assumed leadership without pushing Shaq out.
Kobe definitely did some growing in those years trying and failing to carry Smush Parker and Kwame Brown.
