i tried to yarr-harr some Caprica as a prelude to yarr-harring BSG but couldn't get into it. caprica is a real slow burn, from what little i remember.

Like a decade ago I was on a deployment and one of my co-workers was digging thru the binder of blurays/dvds I brought and stopped on BSG.

He asked me "is this any good?"

We proceeded to spend the entire next week binging the show sunrise to sunset

I only saw like the first 6 episodes but BSG was fantastic right off the bat

it's one of the few shows where the pilot starts off incredibly strong

Wasn’t the pilot a made for tv mini-series that served as a pilot and episode 3 (technically episode 1) didn’t happen until like a year and a half later?

Afaik the series wasn't ordered until after the miniseries had already been made and didn't come out until a year later. It was designed as a backdoor pilot but since they didn't know at the time its why the miniseries has a more concise plot then most pilots.
