So I'm at the point I just wish I could sever ties with my brother completely right now, but I can't until the damn house is sold.

Last week, the lawyer sent us copies of the trust to review, and we were supposed to reply back individually with an approval or not so he could send us a digital signable pdf we can do on our phone. He's refused to respond. My step mother and I have texted him and e-mailed him, and called him cause we're having issues with the life insurance policy. Completely ignored. I called my uncle today to ask him a question, I find out he hasn't even been home the last few days, refusing to talk to my uncle, refusing to help finish getting the house ready for sale, or even to take care of his damn dog.

Since no one has seen him, I finally broke down, googled his employer, and called his boss whose been friends with him for over 15 years just to make sure the idiot didn't fucking OD and die in a ditch or something. Confirmed he's alive and been showing to work, and she volunteered to ask him to call my uncle at least to help him out.

I text my brother telling him how it's telling that I have to call his boss to make sure he's alright, he's blowing everyone off, and that he needs to get past whatever self righteous belief he has that we all have wronged him and actually deal with his responsibilities of helping my uncle who has let him live there rent free for 2+ years while he goes through a divorce, as well as the responsibility he owes our father to go over the trust and help make sure it's executed smoothly.

He calls me back 2 hours later but I'm in a meeting, so I let it go to voicemail. Nothing left. Text him about 40 minutes after his call, he says he will call tomorrow. I tell him after 2 as I'm in meetings (not exactly true, because he's being such a damn flake, I have to take tomorrow off (at least a half day) to pick up our aunt who lives near where my dad and step mom are and bring her back out here (2hrs each way almost) so she can sign forms for the sale of their house because he can't even be assed to help out.

Honestly my son has made the last year+ wonderful. I mean I've had new worries since about 2 years ago when wife got pregnant, but man, not having as much time to be angry at the state of this planet is a blessing.

That is literally what they do. A cleaner cleans. A maid does housekeeping, IE tidying and all your chores.

If that is your metric, every job on this planet might as well be help. Calling them "the help" is deeply disrespectful in my opinion. They are competent people that run their own businesses.
