Top hit - 15 yard penalty on 3rd down pushing them out of game-winning field goal range and a 28k fine
Bottom hit - no penalty, no fine, QB knocked out of the game in the first quarter
i personally see no issue with the clowney hit. wentz made a conscious decision to jump forward to gain extra yardage, which keeps him classified as a runner. he knew this while doing it. he could have slid forward like russ does instead and the rules would have protected him. he took a gamble knowing that it would lead to a hit, and he took the hit. the end result sucks but you shouldn't penalize guys for that
the blindside block call was clearly dumb and the fact it was backed up by a fine is stupider still
Wentz had to tell the officials he was fucked up. The independent spotters for concussions completely missed it.
that process is still terrible. i feel like they purposefully don't check qbs to the degree other positions are for on field concussions because of how much it degrades the product. i forget which qb it was but i remember a qb sometime recently (last year maybe?) played a full series while completely concussed. nobody checked him until he was on the side line... matt schaub maybe? i forget
i made the joke in discord that Jesus Christ is to blame, he made wentz be honest about being concussed
an atheist would have stayed in the game!
