It most certainly impacts his chances on the HOF. Ray Lewis played 17 seasons. That is like asking, "does cutting that by more than half lower his chances of getting in the HOF?" Of course it does. He still has a shot, but double his career and he was a lock.

Do we think Patrick Willis is a HOFer? He retired after 8 seasons when he was 29.

7 time pro-bowler, 5 time first-team all pro.

Same PB/AP numbers, fewer INTs, same number of defensive TDs, more sacks, more solo tackles, fewer combined tackles.

Extremely similar careers tbh, almost uncanny.

Would I vote for him? No. Will the voters? Not sure, maybe. Someone from the 49ers will argue and push for him obviously. Personally, I tend to side with Belichick that only the very, very top players should enter. "Hall of Very Good" is not what it should be. Are Luke or Patrick on the level of Ray Lewis, Lawrence Taylor, or Lambert? Nope. Those are the type of players the HOF should be reserved for. Walking through Canton and seeing busts of LT, Lambert, and......Luke Kuechly....one of these is obviously not like the others.

The argument for them will be the # of all-pro seasons out of their number played. The argument against will be the lower number played and lack of rings (which is dumb imo).

if you've been voted as first team all-pro 5 times you are a hall of famer. ray lewis is the greatest mlb ever and he has 7 first team all-pro nominations for reference.

kuechly and bobby wagner have very similar careers and bobby wagner will be a first ballot hall of famer... i dont think you really know what constitutes as great my man

Just playing devil's advocate here:

Draft Player A on his 5 year rookie contract. Player A is selected to the All-Pro team all 5 seasons. Player A retires.

Is Player A deserving of the HOF? The voters are mostly older media members or at-large members. The chance you're going to convince most of them that a guy who never made it off of his rookie contract is a HOFer is extremely low.

The question people should be asking: can you convince a majority of the voters that Player A is worthy? This changes odds drastically. I don't think most of them will be convinced of LK. And Darin Gantt is probably who would have to give his pitch speech, who is probably among the weakest members on the entire panel.

megatron is another career i would point to that was short but very dominate, and he will be in the hall of fame
