Sounds like EVO is cancelled. Hotel started refunding people without them asking.

I've only seen a couple tweets about it but I wouldn't doubt it at this point. EVO is cutting it hella close to most reopening windows and even then, it's gonna lose attendees that don't want to risk it on top those that are gonna skip to save some money after getting shit on the past couple months.
EVO cancelled. They are having some, sure to be disaster, online event:

Inb4 Brazilian Ken wins it.
They are basically invincible, so I can see that. Imagine if they are stupid enough to actually attempt some kind of SFV online in front of an EVO type audience lmao.
Surely devs will finally realize how garbage their netcodes are outside of Japan and work hard to implement a better experience. Right?
Why would Japanese people ever work to make sure an experience outside of Japan is as enjoyable as within Japan? Everyone knows that sales strictly within their own nation can keep them profitable. No sir, they don't need global purchases to stay in the green at all!
Shit works just fine for Japan and that's just fine. If the rest of the world wants their products, they'll deal with the repercussions of not living in the glorious Nippon mainland!
Smartest thing they could have done, given the circumstances. At least 3 of the 4 games have actual good online, and you certainly cant bank on a fucking online smash tourney working out well unless you want nothing but sonics and samus.
Would have been nice to see some Garou, though, but I'll take it.
Can't wait to watch some high-level Skullgirls again. Big Band forever!
I wouldnt be surprised to see Nintendo hold their own Melee/Ultimate online event now instead.
A few different reddits are making this sound like the original event games are now just exhibition matches, press events, or reveals and the only "real" tournament action is the 4 side games (Skullgirls, KI, Herds, MK11). Does that sound right?
I didn't take that away, from the first time I watched it. So there won't be a SFV tourney? I mean I don't see how there could be....the netcode is putrid.
Those could just be "in addition to" the tournaments, but I can see why they wouldn't be. So they are going to have 5 weekends and the only real tournaments be MK, Skullgirls, Rainbow Pony game, and KI? Might as well just cancel lmao.
Do their consoles even have an Ethernet port yet?
Not saying it would be an Evo type event removed from Evo. Probably something more along the lines of the World Championship events they've held in the past.
Much like the clearly detailed and obvious exhibition matches in the very concise video explaining the Evo Online format.
