Aldon Smith has been conditionally reinstated by the NFL
You act as if he isn’t going to get another DUI before the season starts.
cowboys are due at least one suspension an offseason so if it's going to be anybody i'd definitely appreciate if it was a guy that doesnt even effect the cap
aldon could be the mayan sacrifice to the football gods
Appears the Boys have just made an offer to Dak to make him the highest paid QB ever. Lmfao gross
they offered him 175 over 5 years (35 average) like 2 months ago. to my knowledge it hasn't changed. also i have no idea what the guarantees are on that deal
Wasn't he also more interested in a 3-4 year contract as they are expecting a cap spike in that time frame and he wants to cash in on that?
yeah, and the 45m in the last year is a literal non factor. all contracts have the highest hit in the final year. the contract would probably look something like this:
year 1: 25m
year 2: 30m
year 3: 35m
year 4: 40m
year 5: 45m
---------------
total 175m over 5 years with a 35m average
if its broken down anything like that its a good contract for the cowboys
yup, thats what its all about. dak wants a 3-4 year deal. it forces the first year of the contract to be higher and there's a projection of a massive salary jump down the pipe
honestly i think the public views qb contracts totally wrong, focusing on the average salary, which doesn't even matter in the grand scheme of things. remember the outrage of derek carr/frat hatford becoming the highest paid qbs in the league? well just 3 years later those contracts of 25m/27m are among the cheapest starting qb contracts out there and total bargains. thats why teams want long term deals. shit becomes cheap as balls in two years because qb contracts are going up like 3m every year
its continually signing coupons every 2 years that will fuck you because he's always staying within the top 5 highest paid qbs. the team never sees the cheap side of the deal... i should interview to be the vikings gm. ill turn that shit around
Sounds like Jamal Adams and the Jets can’t agree to a long term deal and might be looking for a trade.
with the potential of no fans, and the loss of billions as a result, i can see a slew of teams going cheap on future contracts next year. its not like the jets have a cap problem.
i specifically remember the raiders having money problems last year. that shits only gonna get worse
probably unlikely. the cap is negotiated yearly by both the league and the player association. in no universe is the pa going to sign something where their players take a pay cut. there would be a strike before that happens.
i'd assume that the worst case scenario is the cap stays the same, or what could happen is the nfl takes a kind of loan from itself and takes a percentage of the future cap and draws from that next year. so like if the cap is supposed to go up by 10% in 2025 its reworked to 5% or whatever. i know all those numbers are planned like 10 years in advance so it's all easily manipulated
Sure, but Scheffter isn't known for just making up numbers out of thin air. If he is talking about it, it is legit.
