ya it's a bop so far. every major actor slots in perfect, HBO production values shine, very faithful while expanding enough minor stuff to keep things fresh. hyped for the rest.

that Joel flashback to Sarah's murder when the drug trafficking soldier points a gun at Ellie before beating his ass to death, not quite the subtlest way to show the surrogate daughter relationship that is forming out of Joel's trauma but still chef's kiss
