I did think they were going to bring it back to the game a little more, with Frank's friendlier, more whimsical nature getting him into trouble, getting bit, killing himself, maybe after a fight with the paranoid antisocial Bill, instead of the degenerative disease / zombie-apocalypse-agnostic story they did

also I'm a little bummed we don't get to see Bill kick some ass with a machete like in the game

Honestly thought it was gonna be a much sadder episode after all these comments and stuff I saw online. But it was kind of cute? They managed to live an almost full life in the middle of an apocalypse. Good episode.

Considering how dreary and depressing the universe is in general in the games, especially in 2, I also thought that this was actually more 'nice' than 'sad' - you know it was going to end bad anyway, but at least they had a good run. Though, of course I also understand why everyone is getting so teary about this too.

We do see Frank at the end of the Bill section, hanging in the living room of a house they hide in. He got bitten stealing the battery Joel and Bill were trying to find at the school because he wanted to use it to leave the town. In his suicide note he tells Bill he hated him and wanted more out of life.

Whoa. That’s a fuckton more depressing lol. I definitely got more cute than sad from this episode. They lived a somewhat fulfilling life despite the circumstances.

Yeah I agree with that. I was just expecting some horrible fucked up ending haha. I guess more in line with what the game had, even though I played it so long ago I didn't remember the details. I was pleasantly surprised to find it different though.

Especially with the strawberries. Bill be mad about Frank trading a gun for seeds. Cry onions over the taste of fresh strawberries somewhere in the ballpark of 10-15 years after everything went to shit.
