The reviews almost made me come back, everyone really seemed to say they knocked this one out of the park.

It's been fantastic.
Everyone is raving about ff14 but I just don't want to participate in that economy. If I ever joined I'd just drop a buncha money on gil, play the game and have fun, then dip cause fuck that

You don't even need to do that, really. The main questline and dungeons you have to do reward you with gear that is perfectly acceptable, and with group finder you can automatically get paired with people and face roll about 75% of the content, occasionally there is some unique challenges, but for the most part you only have to actually put effort in once you reach optional endgame stuff. The story, music, graphics, world building is all fantastic.
the gameplay tho is still just wow lite
Yar. There's no reason to farm [or buy, boooooooo] gil unless you plan to buy housing (which you'll lose if you don't log on and use it every so often), or buy very rare collectible drops off the AH.
You don't need pricey crafted gear unless you are a world first raider, otherwise the weekly normal raid/tomestone gear will be on pace with your clearing capability.
Same with food and pots, don't need to blow money on it unless you're pushing to clear the current raid tier.
You do the MSQ, do sidequests if you want the full shebang, do each dungeon/trial/alliance raid as it comes at you.
Except for the first series of Bahamut raids, there is a normal (easy) mode for every 8-man trial and raid so you miss no sory and get the gist of the fight.
The only things in the game you need a competent 4/8/+ group for are: Deep Dungeon/Heaven on High, EX/Savage Trials and Raids, and Baldesion Arsenal.
And you don't need to worry about Arsenal, because the only way you're getting enough people for it is if you join the data center discord devoted to it.
if you guys like ff14 so much you should get some interesting discussions going in the ff14 sections of this forum so that it doesn't close down due to 1 post every 2 months
Probably would if there was content updates more than every two months
But for someone who has been on an extended break there is a lot to catch up on.
It's best to resub every 3-6 months since SE dropped the MM from MMORPG.
The open world is just a big lobby where people wait for their instance queue or ERP. Just make sure you don't say anything when matched with strangers or you might end up kicked or reported to a GM if you offended them somehow.
Gil is useless and gear become useless after 6 months so there's no point into grinding to obtain anything.
Sounds like shit
Why is xi so expensive
Heavensward main story was great
Heavensward side content (Warring Triad, beast tribes, alliance raids, Alexander) were bad to awful
Stormblood main story was terrible
Stormblood side content (Four Lords, beast tribes, Ivalice raids, Omega) were fantastic
Shadowbringers has nailed pretty much everything perfectly
when are they going to streamline the base game cuz grinding through that noise to get to the good goods was a struuuggllee
Literally next month.
Getting relics is so ludicrously easy in Shadowbringers holy hell
Complete the Ivalice raids from Stormblood which probably everyone already has done anyway
Cutscenes
Solo duty
Cutscenes
Here’s your ivl485 weapon with 5 material slots
Want the relic on another job? 1k poetics
Holy shit, I’m gonna have a relic on every job at this rate
The next phase is more than likely to be much more grindy.
That's seriously only the unlock. there will be several stages to go.
Trying to get all my jobs I left behind at 70 up to 80 before 5.3 drops, hopped on Ninja for the first time since the SHB changes and hahahaha I was so bad, completely forgot ninjitsu order, barely used trick attack. Did a handful of roulettes with people that surely thought I was retarded. ‘Twas great fun.
PS Shadowbringers is $15 on Amazon right now DO IT
ez pass
