Welp was announced today that with the upcoming patch, the free trial will be extended to include all of ARR and Heavensward, you can level jobs up to level 60 as well. So there ya go, a free 200 hour JRPG for all the newbies.

Well I made the mistake of trying out blue Mage the day before a major patch. I can see why it is either loved or hated. I think it’s pretty fun so far. I think I learned 1k Needles earlier than I should have because it’s pretty OP.

The spell book list (and subsequently, every spell guide I could find) NOT being in level 1-50 order is fucking infuriating. I was like level three looking for where to get my next spell and every guide is like “...at level 50...at level 50....at level 50”

yeah, people are pissed with blu. some people like it for the novelty, but most are mad it cant be used for shit else. still, apparently at 60 its strong as fuck, but they fuck you by not letting you do shit with group finder, etc

i've been leveling blu with my wife as she goes through the game. it's pretty fun. we're only level 18. the streamlined ARR will help her retain interest, i think.

I literally went 1-40 yesterday on blu in like 5 hours and that was stopping to eat and look up spell guides and do two dungeon runs to learn spells. 1k Needles was too OP I was just oneshotting everything and getting solo chain #5.

also, the reason you're not finding guides in level order is cos you can learn any spell at any level. i tend to go by zone. i'll look at every spell i can learn in X zone, then look at the monsters you can learn em from to see which ones i'm high enough to fight on my own. if i wanted to pull some friends in to help, i could just learn them all.

Got BLU to 60 over the weekend. Now to collect all the spells. Funny story when I was level 50 I joined group to learn Ramuh’s move and this one dude in the party bitched and said I needed to be level 60 and have Aetherial Mimicry. I was like....uh no, it’s a level 50 spell from level 50 content, you don’t need that. He was indignant and bitched and left the group. We did Ramuh and I learned Shock Strike 1/1. Suck it bitch.
