Lol PAPR save me. Had a hypothetical 50yo today who came in with nausea and vomiting, fever, slight abd pain. No shortness of breath. No cough. Hypoxemic to 70s. Bilateral infiltrates, low lymphocytes.
Rapid COVID PCR is nice though. Time to result 4hrs. Bet on ARDS within 24hrs.
If we're doing U.S. predictions I say a ton of people in the Tristate area and about 50k outside of it
edit: 300k for a ton
I heard non-hypoxemic dyspnea is pretty characteristic. Hopefully they don't tank.
Hm. I was indeed off by a zero, but now that we have started actually doing stuff on a state level I also feel less pessimistic than I did back then. Maybe I guess 1.5mil for these two strains?
Aren't there 8 strains right now?
fiik I can't keep up with the Coronavirus news
No one can and very few should.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...s-latest-news/Louisiana reported by far its largest number of new coronavirus cases in a 24-hour period Tuesday afternoon, with reported infections and deaths each jumping about 30 percent, as state leaders renewed calls for residents to comply with social distancing rules, and crackdowns on violators continued.
The "very sobering numbers" brought the state's total number of cases to 5,237, and 239 covid-19 patients have died, Gov. John Bel Edwards (D) said at a news conference. That is an increase of 1,212 cases and 54 deaths over what the state reported Monday. The city of New Orleans had 1,834 total cases and 101 deaths.
https://www.washingtonpost.com/world...s-latest-news/New York City’s death toll from the coronavirus pandemic passed 1,000 on Tuesday, according to the city health department, as officials warned that it could be nearly another week before the outbreak peaked.
At least 1,096 people have died from covid-19 in New York City, and more than 8,500 remain hospitalized, according to the health department.
Statewide, New York reported a record 332 deaths in a single day, taking the state’s total to 1,550, according to a Washington Post database, signaling that fatalities could continue to increase sharply.
Louisiana failing to cancel Mardi Gras and Florida failing to cancel spring break are both indefensible fuckups.
Florida had over 1k new cases today and the state still isn’t locked down
Much like Texas, we're having to do it county by county because our governor is a complete dipshit
WaPo tracker is showing 743 reported deaths today with a stretch left to go. should break 1000 in the next couple days. imagine it'll be a wake up for many.
California quarantine is finna hit two weeks this Thursday so ideally we'll see at least regional declines in the exponential growth rate, but thus far the week over week increase of 400-500% holds steady. sobering to think what next week holds if the patchwork quarantines don't retard the growth rate.
yikes. not good on the death rate. the coronalily gonna be blooming quite a field of deadly flowers on our pond if this keeps up.
on another note, my dad works in the home mortgages industry, i think in refinancing loans. he says business is fine and he's working from home so they're not hurting for money over there, but do you think he's just lying to put me at ease? i know nothing about home loans, so i don't know if they'd be thriving in this kind of times or not, considering how many people would be struggling to be making payments.
According to BNO we surpassed Italy for daily deaths today.
EDIT: Edited for clarity.
