I missed the show, but I'll wait to see how this pans out. It really feels like a situation where he in no way needs Heyman, so it's odd to hear about. Then again, Punk didn't either, and the pairing was good. Aren't there people who would get much more out of being aligned with the guy though?

Heyman has really only elevated two people. Punk and Lesnar. Cesaro and Curtis Axel both spun their wheels as Heyman was still forced to basically focus on Brock. With Brock stuck in Canada, they may as well find some way to utilize Heyman, and Reigns' weak point is promo work. He's fine if he's allowed to shoot from the hip, but he's not good enough to fix a scripted promo as we all know.

Yeah, AJ wanted off of Raw where at the time Heyman was still in charge, and he absolutely hates Heyman. I'm thinking honestly Roman may lose and go to Raw. If Fiend loses the title relatively quickly, he's basically toast as a character thanks to the whole Goldberg bullshit, and Raw seems to be be weak on Heels or Tweeners who can go heel. After Drew is done with Randy, all that's really left as a legitimate main event heel threat to him on the brand is Lashley.

Summer Struggle was overall a strong show, particularly the matches in the middle. They didn't add in a bunch of extra matches just for the people who worked the tour, so it was just a 6-card match. Very palatable, and I think something like 2.5 hours or something. G1 begins 3 weeks from today. New Japan Road shows in a week-ish ought to be announcing the participants/blocks/dates. Very interested to see who they'll be able to get back into the country if any, since it's getting close. In terms of likelihood, I'd think KENTA > White/Fale > Ospreay (I have no idea his status, but I've seen recent pictures of him looking JACKED)

Low blow and rollup to Okada made this whole dumb KOPW 2020 thing at least somewhat worthwhile. Match didn't do a lot, but it was interesting seeing some interactions in that match that you'd never see in NJPW because of how rare multi-man matches are.

So, is Suzuki going to work G1? People are going to start to come back, and there were others on hand plus the option to use juniors so it wasn't a guarantee. I enjoyed the Shingo reign and it's been nice seeing that actually be treated as "openweight" over the past year or whatever. My guess is he just wins the title back at WK.

When Ishimori is on, he's really good. This wasn't as good as their BOSJ final, but it was different and a smart match that I really enjoyed. While I wished Hiromu got more of a reign than this, I also feel like Ishimori has been due for a good reign.

Tana/Ibushi/ZSJ/Taichi have a high ceiling and a high floor when working together.

I'm glad EVIL got a run with the titles, but I wish they hadn't booked his matches so poorly. Granted, it took them a while to figure out what worked for Jay White in major matches too, so we'll see. It's just that they tried to cut away a lot of the strengths of EVIL and force him into the crappy "Okada main event layout" that everyone must use while also overdoing it with BC garbage to try to make it look like a serious faction despite being the worst it's ever been.

So, roughly 9 months since WK and we've got Naito as a fresh 2-belt champion. Wonderful. Can he just gift the IC title to SANADA to end this? At least all of the usual suspects are options with G1 coming up. Can't wait for Okada to win it! yawn.
