Yes, his absurd desire to keep mentioning socialism is a detriment to his campaign prospects, but he's an angry grandpa that makes points just about everyone (on the left) can agree with.

And the reason Republicans can all get behind their flawed candidates is because of discipline. So why don't we try the winning tactic and start falling in line -- instead of trying to find the mythical candidate everyone can be excited about, we need to grow up, accept how disappointing reality is, and start settling for the less bad option with no regrets.

Bruh stop lying to yourself. You will feel the same way for any candidate that makes it through the gauntlet after being constantly attacked for being the front runner. Bernie would have been no different cause you'd like him, and for the next 5 months you'd be bitching that you hope his verbiage and heart attacks don't keep him from winning the easy win.

Because the point of that saying above is that's just not how Democrats work. Really need to find that imgur album that shows Democrats hold the same opinion regardless of President, but Republicans will entirely flip on issues depending on President.

Also I don't think you can really count the 1988 campaign as his "not winning a state" since he dropped out before Iowa, and was polling well there and had outraised Dukakis up to that point.

Are we forgetting the the Democrats were getting battered to the point of oblivion in the 80s and 90s until Bill Clinton swooped in with his neoliberal moderate third-way politics? That it was centrism that won handily after Reagan and Bush had pummeled the liberalism (well I guess that's a bad word now, so progressive/leftism) of McGovern and Dukakis?

Well, Dukakis had a 17-point lead over Bush in general polling before the Willie Horton ads began.

Kind of my point? Liberal/leftist prison reform agenda makes white people scared and flee to the "Law and Order" GOP candidate. Being "tough on crime" is a pro, not a con, in most circumstances, because it plays well with the people that will actually decide the election. (Remember that was precisely my argument for Biden as a candidate over Bernie as well.)

The civil unrest (and consequent rioting) should be helping Trump, but the way he is introducing his own face into the pavement repeatedly and video evidence of police mishandling is stopping him from being able to make any gains from this.

Clinton won by moving to the center and recapturing voting blocs that the GOP had taken. Things like welfare reform, the war on drugs, DOMA... all those establishment sins that progressives hate are why he won (twice).

It is different having this happen in the era of social media where the entire first week of protests against police brutality saw innumerable acts of police brutality, capped off by the President calling for increased police brutality.

That's why I said, this would ordinarily help the GOP candidate if not for the fact that this particular GOP candidate can't help but be a tremendous screw-up even as the golden parachute of rioting arrived to save him from being thrown off the COVID-19 plane.

    Looking at things and:

PROTECT Act - Two people have been charged with it, and they specifically gave him a plea deal because the Constitutionality of the law could have been overturned.

    What has CIPA actually accomplished?

ACA was an Obama rewrite of Romney's MA plan which was a Heritage foundation concept. Not sure how Biden gets credit here?

Tax Relief Act - You're going to need to be more specific, because there are a bunch of these, and they usually provide tax relief for the wrong demographic.

Budget Control Act is just a silly legislation that the GOP gets to use every year or two to bash Democrats over the debt, and ignore when they're in office. That's one of the weakest of "wins".

The American Taxpayer Relief Act - Yeah not seeing how this is a huge win. Tiny win, and also just another example of Biden negotiating votes, not leading the charge.

The Violence Against Women Act - This one is actually on point! Ironic this was right around the time he was accused of violence against women, though?

Robert Bork sounds he was an asshole, a solid 58 voted against him, and first Senator named on Wikipedia to charge against him was Ted Kennedy. Also this was when Biden was running for President, so he had to make a name for himself.

Federal Assault Weapon Ban was intentionally written in to only last for 10 years, and then it died and hasn't been renewed, man, what a fucking win.

And you do know why he dropped out in 1988 right? He was caught plagiarizing and lying about it. A true winner right there, exactly what I want from a leader, the original Melania Trump.

Incorrect about Bork, Biden dropped out of the race before he began hearings on Bork.

And yeah, Biden got knocked out of the 88 race for not citing to a British politician he'd quoted - and cited - multiple times before. 1988 was a different world.

Everything else, whether you want to say it was effective or not depends entirely on your metrics, which will change depending on what points you're trying to prove.

Also the Federal Assault Weapons Ban was measurably the most effective gun control legislation we've had. It wasn't renewed because Republicans didn't take it up again. So yeah, a lot of people who didn't die over the course of those 10 years would probably consider it a huge fucking win.

He cited him in at least one speech I've read, but didn't in another speech, and also lied about his family to fit the speech, to which I say lol

He isn't a leader. He's a fine side man, which is probably why he fit well with Obama, but he's not a leader.

Biden is the guy that gets promoted because he has been around long enough that he knows the way things work and has done an adequate job. No one hates him but no one loves him.

Bernie is the guy that points out stuff that sucks in the office but has done literally nothing to fix the stuff he points out as broken. He also rubs the oldest wealthiest clients the wrong way, but he gets lots of zoomer likes when he posts on the company Twitter.

Bernie is the asshole that goes around claiming that if you just took his advice, everything would be better. And then when he's gone, everyone realizes he was right. That should align perfectly with the nerds on BG, we've all done that shit with our video games.

I'd rather go with the Bill, the guy all the young people in the office disliked but brought the company record profits and got everyone a raise.
